Kurayami is a supporting antagonist in the 2021 Roblox story horror game The Mimic, appearing as a major antagonist in Jealousy's Book: Chapter II, and a supporting antagonist in Chapter IV.
She is the proclaimed "mother" of Chihiro Amano and a member of Kiiroibara Cult, and as such is a worshipper of Enzukai, the Beast of Jealousy.
Biography[]
Meeting Chihiro[]
Jealous that she did not get to enjoy the company of a mother, Chihiro prays for one, and here Kurayami teleports behind her, she puts her "hand" in Chihiro's and the two walk to the playground. Here they see families running away in fear, Kurayami puts her hands on Chihiro's shoulders and it is implied she killed the families.

Jealousy's Book: Chapter II[]
She first appears in the hide and seek game, where Chihiro forces Isamu into a game of hide and seek with her, in return for a way to leave the playground. Whilst Isamu searches for Chihiro, Kurayami will hunt Isamu down, speeding towards him upon seeing him.
After finding Chihiro 3 times and entering a gate, Isamu gets taken to Phase 2 of the playground, where he must collect 6 notes in a "Stop It Slender" style game, forced to look away (otherwise he will be killed) when Kurayami appears in front of him. After collecting all the notes, Chihiro has Isamu climb into the mouth of a Bake-Kujira named Pon-Pon to leave before he gets expelled from the ghost whale's blowhole and lands on a ship.
Jealousy's Book: Chapter III[]
Kurayami is seen at the end of Jealousy's Chapter 3 along side the Kiiroibara cult, here she helps destroy Tokyo and piggybacks her adoptive daughter Chihiro, who cheerfully waves at Isamu.
Jealousy's Book: Chapter IV[]
Kurayami makes her final appearance in the parking lot of the destroyed mall. After Isamu repairs a car, Chihiro will appear and ask for Isamu to play another game with her. When he bluntly refuses, Chihiro shows him a lantern fragment and states that if he wins her game, she'll give him the fragment. If he loses, then she'll have to offer him to Enzukai.
Kurayami will then dot around the lot as Isamu has to answer five trivia questions in a row. If he gets even one question wrong, she will swiftly decapitate him. Once Isamu solves all the questions, he gains the lantern fragment and both Chihiro and Kurayami leave.
It's confirmed by a lore writer on Discord that after Enzukai's death at the hands of Isamu, any monsters that were created from the black substance (such as Kishin and Kurayami) will instantly wither away and perish. This means that Kurayami is deceased following the end of Chapter IV.
Appearance[]
Kurayami is nothing but a black, slender being filled with branch-like spikes. She also has black claws that can decapitate a person with one slash, along with her eyes and mouth having a bright, white glow.
Personality[]
She is shown to be cruel and aggressive, using multiple methods to kill her victims, she is also shown to be very overprotective of Chihiro, even killing the families at the playground due to Chihiro being angered by them.

- Kurayami's appearance is somewhat similar to Hyda from Among the Sleep.
- The mechanics for the second phase of the playground section is a direct reference to the famous Slenderman game Slender: The Eight Pages.
- The Kanji for the name "Kurayami" (暗闇) means "deep darkness"
- Kurayami is one of two monsters in the game to feature a still image in their jumpscare, the other being Enzukai in Chapter IV.
- Kurayami is one of only three monsters in the entire game to have words flash on the screen when chasing the player. The other two being Dodomeki and Enzukai.
