Trivia[]
- Throughout the game, it is heavily implied that Kurt's real identity is Koschei the Deathless, an infamous figure in Slavic folklore who sought to achieve immortality, and has a history with the Baba Yaga. Even Kurt's convoluted method of hiding the egg that contained his soul is derived from a story about Koschei.
- Kurt's past history with the Baba Yaga regarding "Ivan" and the "horse" is based on a story about Koschei the Deathless. According to the tales, Koschei kidnapped the wife of a man named Ivan, with the latter trying to chase him. However, Ivan couldn't catch up as Koschei's horse was supernaturally fast, though the latter revealed Baba Yaga has a faster horse. Ivan would then ask the witch permission to borrow her horse, but she refused. So, Ivan decided to steal the horse and Baba Yaga tried to chase after him, but she failed and instead fell into a lake of fire.
- In one of the endings, it's implied that Kurt was alive for at least 200 years as he was present in the Witch Trials of Europe from the 16th century to the 18th century, with the game taking place during the Cold War around the 1960s.
