Kurt von Ritzburg is a supporting antagonist in the Wise Man's Grandchild franchise. He was one of the three sons of Russell von Ritzburg and the former heir of the House of Ritzburg. He was the foremost enemy and self-proclaimed love rival of Shin Wolford. He was a former A-Class first year student at Advanced Magic Academy and has an obsession with having Sicily von Claude as his fiancée but only gotten rejected by her. Due to his ignorance, He was expelled from the academy by King Diseum and punished by his father, Russell for illegally used the nobles' status including Sicily's family status in the Academy. Since then, he fells into a devil catalyzed by Oliver Schtrom and aimed to destroy the Advanced Magic Academy from his expulsion and mistreatment by his schoolmates as well to kill Shin, who humiliated him later killed him. He is the secondary antagonist of Volume 1 in the light novel.
He was voiced by Daisuke Matsuoka in Japanese and Dallas Reid in English.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Little is known about Kurt's background. When he was in his 3rd year in middle school. After he was called by Olivier Schtrom his personality changed as he flaunts about his noble title at the academy which greatly displeased his father.
Present[]
During the first day of the entrance exam at the Advanced Magic Academy, Kurt aggressively grabs Shin's shoulder after Shin ignored him and defends himself. As Kurt started to flaunt his noble title against Shin, who didn't really care who he was, Crown Prince August von Earlshide confronts him and reprimands Kurt for his disrespect towards Shin. When Shin became the highest S-Class student, Kurt suffered a mental breakdown when he is an A-Class. When Kurt harassed Sicily, August confronted him again after he disobeyed the royal decree despite of him being warned that nobility in the Academy is literally forbidden and Aug is willing to warn Kurt's father for his ignorance. Furthermore, Kurt was expelled from the academy by King Diseum von Earlshide.
Deeply displeased with Kurt's attitude after got himself expelled from the academy, Russell punished and tied Kurt in his room until Schtrom was called by Kurt's mother and came to catalyzed his magic again, turning him into a Demonoid. At the academy, while Ultimate Magic Research Society was headed to the auditorium, Kurt confronted them at the entrance and attacked them. Kurt attacks and tries to kill Shin, but the fight ended with Kurt's death, as there was no way to save him anymore.
After Kurt's death and Schtrom's confession about using his student as a guinea pig, the House of Ritzburg was not charged with any crimes and were treated as victims instead. However, Russell resigns from his position as the Vice Minister of the Finance Bureau due to Kurt causing an uproar at the academy.

Kurt was initially reasonable back in middle school. However, due to the influence of Schtrom, he became an arrogant, ignorant, delusional and unlawful psychotic sociopath who constantly uses his father's power to try to get what he wants which is inexcusable and forbidden to the Earlshide family's law as a result for his expulsion by King Diseum and punishment by his father. Kurt is also a pervert who mistreating Silicy of using her family's status influence just he would engage to marry her which is affront to the entire royal family's law.
Kurt is also a coward when August threatened him of reporting his father for his delusional actions in the academy.
He even persistently believed himself to think he deserves everyone's respect and feels he is a special person due to Schtrom's influence but only to be looked down and got mistreated by every of his schoolmates when they've disgusted of his ignorance that includes his own father when abusing him for his disobedience to the royal family's decree when he gotten expelled from the academy.
After he was expelled from the Academy, Kurt has became more than a sore loser when still believed himself to be "special" which led Oliver to turn Ritzburg into a demonoid though he is weak.
He also was shown to have hatred towards Shin Wolford due to not only getting 1st place in the exam got into S-class while Kurt was in A-class, but also receiving attentions and love of Sicily as well. While as a demonoid, he completely lost all of his senses of reasoning which only made Kurt to be very weak of not controlling his attitude.

- Kurt was the first and only known student who got attend in his first day later expelled from his second day.
