Kurusu (来栖 Kurusu) is a major antagonist in the 2020 Japanese psychological manga series Juujika no Rokunin. He is a member of the Revolution Club, serving as the right-hand of Andou Midori, as well as an old friend of his since middle school. He serves as the secondary antagonist of the Andou arc.
For a while till now, Kurusu would eventually be revealed to be a serial killer who most likely killed over hundreds of women and collected their hands for his unusual collection as a "hobby" of his. He's then revealed to be the forest father of Reo Suzuyama and her adoptive older sister, Rio, and later became the archenemy of the former for what he did to her sister in the past.
Personality[]
Kurusu comes off as mostly quiet and stoic, though does happen to mutually get along with Andou due to their history back in their school days and often talk about their twisted, sadistic hobbies together. This would explain how calm Kurusu seems to Andou's usual killings of weaker beings.
Before his true nature, Kurusu was first thought to be rather decent and calm, though unamused and blunt, given his interactions with Shun Uruma (under the guise and name of Yoshida). Though, in actuality, Kurusu is just as cruel and vile as Andou, though in a much less sadistic way to describe it, yet is still evil, as he has an unusually twisted habit of killing women and collecting their hands for his collection, likely as decorations, while having this sexual desire to use them for his own satisfaction, demonstrating that he is a necrophile.
He also has the facade of portraying as a "family man" when he first adopted Reo and Rio, though he would often play with the latter's feelings in favor of the former, who he spoke of her as "beautiful".
Biography[]
There's not much on Kurusu's background, however, it was stated that he and Andou went to the same elementary school together back as adolescents and were mutual friends since that day. In his twenties, at some point onward, Kurusu became a serial killer where he often targeted women (from high school students, neighbor's wives, office workers, and supermarket cashiers) and collected their victims' hands for his collection as decorations he recently kept in a hidden room, a large amount of them, which he would often ejaculate to one of them till he was satisfied, there was also no criminal record over what he has done. At some point, he adopted Reo and her sister figure, Rio, to be their foster father, when in actuality, he did it for his own vile intentions. Throughout raising them, they would eventually spend quality time traveling, watching movies, bowling, and shopping, though Reo would eventually develop feelings for him, which he took advantage of and chooses Rio in favor just to mess with her, thus severing their friendship.
However, just when Reo planned on leaving, Kurusu eventually killed Rio and severed her arm while she was knitting a pair of gloves to Reo as an apology gift, and before he left, he dismissed Reo's presence and states that she was "nothing special to look at". Leaving Reo in a state of despair, it would then caused her to find her drive for revenge on the very man who killed her sister. At another point on, he joined the Revolution Club and became Andou's right hand.
In the present, Kurusu would inform Andou of the new upcoming participants heading over to Hikarijima (nicknamed "Revolution Island"), one of the many training camps of the Revolution Club, upon entering the "Barking Room" where Andou was just finished killing off several animals. Throughout his time, he would often speak with Andou by his side, and on one night, Masashi Nakamura, one of the coaches of the camp, informed Kurusu regarding the teams' developments so far and praised Yoshida (who, in actuality, is Shun Uruma in disguise) for his efforts, something that caught Kurusu's eye. He then ordered one of his workers to get Uruma into his office to talk to him, questioning his lack of records and his only interest in the Revolution Club being "profound", much to his suspicions. However, Uruma responds that he was impressed by the club's philosophy, thus Kurusu dismissed him with ease.
Later that night, Kurusu is seen with Andou on a balcony, reminiscing their younger years while discussing the participant members having the potential to become "Revolution Soldiers", which Andou expressed the joy of breaking the members one by one, something Kurusu mutually obliged as a "nice hobby" of his, though Andou remarked that Kurusu's is "quite cruel as well". Kurusu is then seen heading back to his hidden room full of his victims' hands, and he is seen ejaculating to one of them till he was satisfied. After that, Kurusu is then seen in Uruma's room after Andou knocked him out, which is revealed he reported to Andou regarding him but never thought he and the former had a history together as Andou prepares to torture Uruma in his chamber.
During the time the members ate opium-made cakes that drove them to go violent and rape the female participants, Kurusu is then seen asking the guards of the island about the current situation and the sanctuary farmed with opium, which the guard notified him about intruders, telling them to shoot them if spotted. He then suggests not notifying Andou since he's too "obsessed" with Uruma in the "Pain Room" in the meantime, though Kurusu would receive a call from Andou saying that Uruma's execution will be postponed as he'll do it himself. Afterward, Kurusu is then seen in his room, holding one of his victims' hands, likely belonging to Reo's sister, upon smelling it and being reminded of that time, not before someone knocked on his door.
Kurusu is then seen pummeled to the floor by Reo, likely after beating him down, in the same room where Uruma pinned down Andou and pierced his right eye, much to the coincidental surprise of them both. Later when Kitami helped the two prepare to have Kurusu and Andou tortured for what they've done to them with the former being the first to wake up and find Reo in front of him, calling her "beautiful" from the last time they've seen each other spitefully. Kursu then laughs and begins to taunt Reo about ever loving her when she demanded an apology for Rio's death, then explains that he committed his atrocities just to make her hate him more and claims to "take responsible" without apologizing, though he, instead, tries swallowing a cyanide pill to kill himself and thought he still has his collection of his victims' hands in the afterlife.
To his surprise, the pill he swallowed tasted sour and it's revealed Reo swapped it with citric acid as the torture began, much to his horror. Upon using the Scavenger's Daughter to lower down his whole body, Kurusu would eventually have his whole body and limbs explode due to the pressure intensity, folding him painfully before Reo demands an apology once again. Instead, he begs her to be taken off, only provoking her into further torturing him. After that, the pressure would result in blood clots breaking his body's vessels and as Reo questioned why he targeted her and Rio, Kurusu can only thought that there's still an advantage for him to get out of the torture and manipulate her feelings simply by admitting his crimes, such as killing 16 people before Reo and Rio, and the fact he couldn't help but kill them right away before feigning remorse and "apologize" for everything to Reo, saying she's become more beautiful and that he should've loved her more.
As Kurusu believed he succeeded at gaslighting her and won, Reo obviously knew he was lying and proceeds to strangle him to death as she hugged him, breaking his neck in front of a mourning Andou. After she got revenge on her sister's killer and helped Uruma burn down the island, she took back Rio's arm from Kurusu's hidden room and plans to have her remains buried.
