Marshal Kûrvi-Tasch (French: Maréchal Plekszy-Gladz), also known as Müsstler in the original version of King Ottokar's Sceptre, is the overarching antagonist of the Tintin books King Ottokar's Sceptre, The Calculus Affair, and Tintin and the Picaros.

He is the dictator of Borduria who organized the Bordurian/Syldavian conspiracy to steal the Ottokar Sceptre to force King Muskar XII to abdicate. He is also the founder of the Z.Z.R.K, an organization dedicated to obtain complete control over Syldavia, tasked with it's unification with other countries.

He is also responsible of Professor Calculus's imprisonement in Borduria after the Syldavian plane taking Calculus fell into the hands of the Bordurians, as well as the one who sent Colonel Sponsz to assist Tapioca in his dictatorship.

Appearance[]

He is a black haired man with a large nose and a long curved mustache.

Biography[]

His past is completely unknown, but he did become the dictator of Borduria before the events of King Ottokar's Sceptre.

King Ottokar's Sceptre[]

He is the one who created the Z.Z.R.K organization in which Alfred Alembick, Boris Jorgen, Herr Czarlitzz, Sporovitch, Captain Wizskitoz, Trovik, Sirov, Zlop, Captain Szplodj and Schzlozitch are part of to organize a conspiracy to steal the Ottokar Sceptre in order to force King Muskar XII to abdicate. However, his plan is thwarted by Tintin, and all of the members are arrested.

Tintin and the Picaros[]

He is the one who sent Colonel Sponsz to San Theodoros so he can assist General Tapioca in his dictatorship.

Trivia[]

  • Despite only appearing as statues and portraits and being mentioned by name, Kûrvi-Tasch is the overarching antagonist of King Ottokar's Sceptre, The Calculus Affair and Tintin and the Picaros as he is the one behind the events of the three books.
  • Kûrvi-Tasch and his Bordurian government closely resemble the Nazi Third Reich. His name is also used in a recurring Bordurian curse, "By the whiskers of Kürvi-Tasch!".
  • Kûrvi-Tasch's original name, Müsstler, is a mix of Italian fascist Benito Mussolini and Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler's names.
