Kuzan is a researcher for Crown who serves as their expert on the Gaia Net and the secondary antagonist of the third and final arc of Shichisei Toshin Guyferd.
He is portrayed by Isamu Ichikawa.
Biography[]
Kuzan was originally a scientist who developed a theory surrounding the Gaia Net, an ancient doomsday machine that he believed was responsible for natural disasters. After his theories were rejected by the scientific community however, Kuzan became obsessed with proving he was right and joined Crown. He assisted Zodiac in setting up the Gaia Net and told him of the three artifacts he needed to complete it - the Divine Mirror, Seven Star Sword and Dragon Crystal.
After Zodiac obtained the first two artifacts, Kuzan attempted to gain recognition in the scientific community again by publishing his research. He later approached Murako and offered her a spot in Crown but she refused, prompting him to send the two Guyborgs he had brought with him to capture her. However, Deathferd intervened and fought them off. Ranghoul then appeared and tried to fight Deathferd, but Kuzan decided to retreat for the time being and called Ranghoul off.
As Zodiac sent Valcanon to obtain the Dragon Crystal, which had now fused with Gou, Kuzan had a group of Fangs attack Masato to keep him occupied so he wouldn't interfere. Masato was able to fight through them and became Deathferd to assist his brother, but while he was battling Valcanon Zodiac took to the field personally and kidnapped Gou. After Zodiac brought Gou back to their lair in Mount Fuji, Kuzan hooked him up to a device that would harness the Dragon Crystal's energy from him and use it to complete the Gaia Net.
Gou was later freed by his friends and joined Masato in destroying Zodiac, but the Gaia Net continued to remain active, generating a black storm cloud that would wipe out mankind with lasers once it was large enough. As Gou and Masato raced to stop it, Kuzan appeared before them and blew himself up to destroy part of the hallway to keep them from advancing, though Masato was able to hold up a pillar that fell to allow Gou to pass on and destroy the Gaia Net.
