~ Kyle promoting his father's racist views |
Kyle Ackerman is the secondary antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Raw". He is the teenage son and acolyte of white supremacist Brian Ackerman, who helps him carry out a racially motivated mass shooting in the name of the racist organization Revolutionary Aryan Warriors (R.A.W.).
He was portrayed by Cody Kasch.
Early life[]
Kyle is the son of Brian Ackerman, the leader of the white supremacist group Revolutionary Aryan Warriors (RAW), and his most fervent follower; his father has completely indoctrinated him with racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-government propaganda, and has isolated him from people of different cultures, races, and religions to keep him from questioning RAW's racist doctrine.
When he isn't studying, Kyle manages his father's front business, the gun shop Gun Ho, with help from Star Morrison, one of RAW's followers and a surrogate mother to him. He also handles RAW's "youth outreach" by developing a video game in which the player "defends the white, Christian homeland" by killing Blacks and Jews.
In "Raw"[]
After RAW member Brannon Lee Redding commits a school shooting with a rifle purchased from Gun Ho that kills a little boy and wounds two other children, Detectives John Munch and Fin Tutuola of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit question Kyle and "Star" about the shooting. Kyle denies RAW's involvement in the shooting, but nevertheless denigrates the victims, who were Black and Jewish. When Munch and Tutuola discover a link between RAW and Redding in the organization's financial records, they arrest Kyle.
At the SVU station house, Kyle rants about his hatred of anyone who does not fit the "Aryan ideal" espoused by RAW, even as Tutuola and Detective Olivia Benson tell him that his father has brainwashed him. His father shows up to bail Kyle out, and Kyle apologizes for his supposed failure to "defend the perimeter". Eventually, however, the SVU detectives arrest Ackerman for aiding and abetting the shooting after Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak makes a deal with Redding to testify against him.
Kyle believes that his father is being persecuted, so he and another RAW member smuggle guns into the courtroom and open fire, killing Redding and the trial judge and wounding Munch and Detective Elliot Stabler. Seconds later, Morrison - who is in fact FBI Agent Dana Lewis, who infiltrated RAW in order to bring it down - returns fire and kills Kyle before he can execute Stabler. His body was cradled by his grieving father, who later stated that his only comfort was his son died a hero.
Years later, Brian, who is serving a life sentence for murder, pays petty criminal Seth Coleman to rape Dana as revenge for Kyle's death, for which he blames her.
