Villain Overview

Trying to escape Little Rat? My only goal now.. is to drag you to THAT PLACE!
~ Kyogi to Isamu
Whoever finds the filthy rodent will receive a blessing from our GOD!
~ Kyogi to the Kiiroibara Cult.

Kyogi, also known as Tenome, is a major antagonist in the 2021 Roblox story horror game The Mimic, serving as one of the three overarching antagonists (alongside Hakaisha and Akihito Uchiumi) of Jealousy's Book.

He is the sadistic founder and leader of the Kiiroibara Cult, a religious cult dedicated to worshipping Enzukai, the Beast of Jealousy. He and the cult work towards trying to release Enzukai from his seal, as well as trying to kill or recruit any humans they encounter.

Near the end of the game, Enzukai and Kyogi began spearheading the cult's attack on Tokyo after the former is freed, intending to create a world where Yōkai reign supreme over humans.

He is voiced by "Misery" in Chapter 1 and by AjSparks in Chapter 4

Appearance[]

Kyogi appears as a bald, pale purple man. He has a big mouth put into the form of a big smile. He has black lips and he has two rows of golden teeth. His most common feature is his eyeballs on his palms, instead of his sockets which are empty. He also wears a sleeveless kimono with a muscular body.

In his Chapter I Nightmare Mode form, he lacks the top half of his head, and his skin appears in a darker shade of purple.

In Chapter IV, Kyōgi’s appearance stays generally familiar, though it’s expanded with extra visual detail. His usual black robe now looks worn and grimy, covered in old stains. His light-lavender skin has shifted toward a deeper, purplish tone and is marked with dark, vein-like blotches, similar to how he looked in his Chapter I Nightmare Mode. The eyes on his palms have shrunk, which contrasts oddly with the fact that his actual eye sockets have grown larger.

For his Chapter IV Nightmare form, the redesign is drastically different. His clothing is built from layers of missing posters and newspapers draped over his torso, arms, and shoulders. Strips of yellow-and-black caution tape wrap around him, holding the papers in place. His head has become disturbingly deformed, two bricks are wedged into an exposed brain that’s crawling with multiple eyes. His mouth now features rows of sharpened yellow teeth circling a single eye positioned right in the middle.

Personality[]

Kyogi is very aggressive. He chases and prevents Isamu from lighting up the candles at the bottom floor. He then proceeds to chase Isamu in the vents and knocks him out in order to bring him to to a mysterious place.

Despite his aggressive behavior, he seems to share a keen interest in envious people, as when he hears Senzai's story, he decided to indoctrinate him into the cult.

Biography[]

Past[]

Kyogi at some point formed the Kiiroibara Cult, a group that worshiped the entity Enzukai. He eventually encountered a human named Senzai Uchiumi and oversaw his induction into the cult.

Jealousy's Book[]

Jealousy's Book: Chapter I[]

Kyogi will appear when Isamu enters the ship, along with Kishin and Hyakume. He appears on the bottom floor and will chase after Isamu when he sees him. When Isamu has done all of the candles, a cutscene will play and Kyogi will begin talking to Isamu. When the cutscene has ended, he will begin the chase Isamu in the vents.

Jealousy's Book: Chapter IV[]

Kyogi appears in the destroyed mall with Rin and Tsukiya. He patrols the bottom level while protecting a speaker (which will later be used to incapacitate Tsukiya). To disable him temporarily, Isamu must strike all of the eyeballs placed on the walls of both the first and second floors before the countdown ends. If the timer expires before every eyeball is destroyed, they reset, forcing players to repeat the challenge. Eventually, Kyōgi, joined by other members of the Kiiroibara Cult, chases Isamu throughout the collapsing mall until they reach an elevator. At that point, Kyōgi, together with Rin, Tsukiya and Shosai, attempts to try and open the elevator doors.

Kyogi later roams Kawasaki Ward along with Rin and Tsukiya but is later slaughtered by Isamu with Ashikaga's blessing bow.

Quotes[]

Your brother is gone forever.
~ Kyogi mocking to Isamu about Senzai's "death".
My master demands your head.
~ Kyogi
We meet again, Little rat.
~ Kyogi encountering Isamu in the Destroyed Mall.
AGH, you pest... You dare to blind me?
~ Kyogi after Isamu punches out all the eyes.

Trivia[]

  • Kyogi's other name, Tenome, is a reference to the infamous Japanese Yōkai called Tenome, which translates to "Eyes on the hands".
  • In the upcoming spin-off game, Yōkai, Kyogi will feature a skin of Samurai Sword from anime and manga series, Chainsaw Man.
    • He is one of two characters to have a skin from that franchise, the other being Kintoru as Makima.
  • The kanji for the name "Kyogi" (教義) means "doctrine"
  • He is the 4th monster in the game to have voice lines, the first being Shinigami, the second being Krampus, and the third being Rin
    • He is also the second monster from Jealousy's Book to have voice lines, the first being Rin.
  • Despite seemingly exiling Shosai from the cult, he still lets him assist in the cult's activities, such as throwing Senzai's fake body into the sea, as well as the attack on Tokyo in Chapter IV.
  • His floor of the ship has the most candles, these being five
