Lương Bổng is a major character of the Vietnamese crime drama series The Arbitrator, based on the Israeli crime drama series of the same name.
He is Phan Quân's lifelong friend who has no family or greed, only wanting to provide for his orphaned granddaughter no matter what it takes. After he and Phan Quân founded the Phan Thị Group together, he became Phan Quân's right-hand man and took the role as the head of Phan Thị's corporate security as a front for his activities. He also works as a private investigator, cleaner and fixer for his long-time friend Bảo Ngậu, who unbeknownst to him is in fact an undercover cop seeking to expose Phan Thị.
He was portrayed by Trung Anh.
Personality[]
Lương Bổng is a rather complex character. While being an assassin, he is not without a heart. He is defined entirely by his loyalty to Phan Quân, always protecting the latter from dangers even when other enemies are close to kill the latter. Even when he is suspicious of Lê Thành, he still follows Phan Quân's orders to listen to him. A close friend of Phan Quân, Lương Bổng has been friend with him since their youths, and helped Phan Quân build the Phan Thị Group into such a great and influential criminal empire, after the two defeated other gangs through tricks. A man of no family, wife and son, Lương Bổng only wants to use the money he earns from his criminal activities to provide for his orphaned granddaughter. He is also a recluse, living alone in a house on the mountain.
Lương Bổng has a friendship with Bảo Ngậu, a newly joined member of Phan Thị, who is in truth an undercover cop. His honor and affability impress Bảo Ngậu so much that he considers their friendship real, even if everything else isn't. When Bảo Ngậu reveals himself and leads the other cops to attack Phan Thị, Lương Bổng still considers him a friend and commends him before dying, and his death saddens Bảo Ngậu.
Biography[]
Lương Bổng is Phan Quân's right-hand man, and in fact the one who helped him to build the Phan Thị Group. When they were young, they used trickery to defeat many other gangs. A skilled assassin with a code of honor, he is entrusted by Phan Quân in a lot of things, including the Phan Thị Group's secrets, and wants to use money from his criminal activities to provide for his granddaughter. He is incredibly loyal to Phan Quân no matter what and has long protected Phan Quân from many dangers. He also develops a friendship with a young newly joined member of Phan Thị, Bảo Ngậu.
One day, a young man named Lê Thành shows up and claims to be Phan Quân's long-lost son. This starts to cause strifes within Phan Quân's family, and many enemies appear from both outside and inside Phan Thị. Lương Bổng still tries to protect Phan Quân and is skeptical of Lê Thành, even with Phan Quân's favoritism over him due to Lê Thành's proven competence. At one point, when Trần Tuấn shows insolence, Lương Bổng chops off one of his fingers on Phan Quân's orders. When Phan Quân is shot, he entrusts Phan Thị to Lương Bổng. Lương Bổng later kills "Aurelia" Lân and Trần Tuấn on Phan Quân's orders.
However, thanks to "Boss-eyed" Thế, the leader of the Thiên Long Gang and Phan Quân's arch-rival, Lê Thành sabotages Phan Thị and shoots Hồ Thu dead. By this point, Bảo Ngậu reveals himself to be in fact, a police sent to infiltrate the underworld, and leads his comrades to arrest everyone in Phan Thị. Lương Bổng and Bảo Ngậu confront each other in a gunfight which ends with Bảo Ngậu's victory. Lương Bổng commends Bảo Ngậu before succumbing to his wounds and dying.
