~ LOIDS |
Laser Operated Individual Digital Sidekicks (LOIDS) are a hostile species from the YTV animated series, Sidekick. They are a series of robot sidekicks, who were invented by Maximus R. Brainius to replace the human sidekicks. This soon proved to be a problem when the AI robots put the humans out of work. They appeared in "I, Sidebot".
Biography[]
In "I, Sidebot", Mayor Swifty came into Sidekick Academy to proudly announce to all of the students that they no longer had to worry about doing sidekick work ever again, thanks to the invention of The Laser Operated Individual Digital Sidekicks or "LOIDS". These robots were AI sidekicks that would do all the work that the humans are supposed to do, so that they could all just take the rest of their lives off. Eric was ecstatic about his freedom but the other sidekicks did not share the sentiment, being upset about losing work, abandoning their dreams, and not getting to see each other at school anymore. Vana was not willing to let the robots take her job and she threw a trashcan at a LOID, only for the LOID to catch the trashcan and mold it into the shape of the statue, The Thinker.
Eric finally got on board with getting rid of the LOIDS, when he found himself getting kicked out of the Maxum Mansion by Maxum Brain, due to the former no longer being a sidekick. Eric didn't even get any of his things anymore because they were all property of Maxum Corp. so he was left homeless and on the streets, all thanks to the LOIDS. Eric gathered up the rest of his friends to see how everyone was doing without their sidekick duties, he saw that Trevor was now an inventor doomsday devices, Kitty was now spying on him 24/7, and Vana had taken up meditation to keep her demons at bay. This would not stand any longer, so Eric and the other sidekicks banded together to take down the LOIDS.
After a depressingly brief curb-stomp battle, the LOIDS effortlessly defeated the sidekicks and had them all tied up in ropes. However, they weren't too cruel to their victims, as they provided them with pillows for comfort, when they were in their traps. Just then, the superheroes came in to save the sidekicks, realizing what a mistake the LOIDS were. They fought the LOIDS and once again, they were instantly defeated and tied up with the sidekicks.
Eric decided that the best option here would be to go to The Evil Side of Town and seek help from Master XOX and the other villains in taking these robots down. XOX was shown to have given up his life of villainy and become a well-mannered and distinguished gentleman, who led a soothing jam band with Brute Brutal, Arachni-Thumb, and The Extrapolator. The sidekicks convinced him that this new life was horrible and that he should use his zest of destruction and abuse on the LOIDS, so that he could go back to his old life. XOX agreed and he led an entire angry mob of villains against the LOIDS. Once again, the villains were largely unsuccessful in the fight and were quick to be defeated by the LOIDS and tied up with everyone else in Splittsboro.
Realizing the LOIDS were unstoppable, Eric came up with the idea to just leave Splittsboro all together and rebuild a new civilization away from the LOIDS. This is exactly what everyone did. The heroes and villains worked together to build an exact replica of Splittsboro that was exactly the same as the old town. Mayor Swifty announced that this new Splittsboro would be treated exactly the same as the old Splittsboro and that nobody would ever mention anything about the fact that they've switched towns. It seemed like this new world was going to be perfect, until Trevor suggested that they build some new AI robots to do all of their hard work for them. Everybody started to take this idea into consideration, signifying that they would soon build a new robot army, making the same mistake all over gain.
The LOIDS would later re-appear in "Eric and the Maxum Brain Factory", as robots who worked in Maximus R Brainius' factory. This proves that he was the one who invented LOIDS in the first place and also demonstrates that he's the only one with the ability to control them.
In "Hullaballoo", Savannah Glama took Vana to the salon to get a makeover, which was done by a LOID.
