La Tunda, also known as the Tunda, is an ugly woman in South American folklore who has a pinwheel or root of a tree and the other as the baby takes babies without baptism and disobedient. Her name is roughly translated in Spanish as "spanking".
This is a myth of the departments that have a coast in the Pacific Ocean. Those who know that this mythical character is an ugly woman, who has one grinder foot or tingui-tingui (root of a tree) and the other like a baby. It takes the moritos (babies without baptism), disobedient children, late-night and unfaithful husbands and young men or women, the ends of the mountain to make them their lovers.
"La Tunda" deceives its victims by taking the appearance of their mothers or other loved one to follow her to the mountain; already in their domains, food with shrimp and crabs. He smells his victims with his bad smells and draws their blood.
The "squatters" learn to love this woman and reject humans. In order to rescue them from "La Tunda", it is necessary to form a commission with the godfather and godmother of the "entundado", a priest, friends and other relatives. They all go into the bush playing drums (cradles and drums), burning gunpowder, firing shotguns, praying prayers and saying foul words for her to disappear.
Some say that "La Tunda" is black and that it smells very bad, it is a being that experiences human feelings, falls in love, complains and hates, especially children. Despite her feelings and human actions, "La Tunda" has superhuman powers, because it is she who produces the conjugation of sun and rain, and when this happens the people of the Pacific say: "the Tunda is giving birth."
It is said that in a rural area of the municipality of Buenaventura, there is the Matunda, the mother of La Tunda. Once at a party, he organized a dance contest and "La Tunda" composed one of the finalist couples, but someone discovered looking at the pinwheel and shouted "Tunda candle, that's the Tunda!" And it ran away.
