Wonderful, glorious, sticky cheese! The only food I ever eat
~ Lab Rat expressing her love for cheese in "Cheese Trees."

Lab Rat is a supporting antagonist in the 2023 Disney Junior show SuperKitties. She's a rat scientist with a knack for building gadgets to serve her and her assistant, plus her best friend, Otto.

Appearance[]

Lab Rat's fur is light gray with a white muzzle, yellow amber-colored eyes, white whiskers, a red nose, and two buck teeth, plus pink feet and ear innards. Her clothing consists of a white and red striped shirt, a lab coat, a yellow belt with a green atom symbol, red pants, gloves, a pair of goggles, and a copper helmet that emits a small bolt of electricity whenever she laughs.

Personality[]

Lab Rat has shown to be obsessed with cheese like most cartoon rats, but also shows a strong interest in science, making various contraptions to further her goal of being the first rodent on the moon, or solve problems involving her friend, Otto, like making it dark so he won't be spooked by shadows, or making a robot based on him. Still, she primarily uses technology to steal things or disrupt events going on in Kittydale.

Biography[]

Season 1[]

Lab Rat and her friend Otto first appear in "Get the Boot," where they exact vengeance on the Kittydale flower festival, via a giant mechanical boot, after a special flower the rodent scientist created is accidentally destroyed by some human girl.

Their next appearance in "Cheese Trees" has them turning the entirety of Kittydale into cheese, which Lab Rat admits is the only food she eats, also serving the purpose of scaring Ginny from the mission at first.

The villainous duo's next few appearances explored their lifestyle and general dynamic with "Groggy Groundhogs" revealing they live in a purple dumpster, "Snow Day", where Lab Rat tries to melt all the snow in Kittydale so Otto wouldn't be cold, having the two work together to try and mail away all the cats in "Leaping Laser", and Lab Rat trying to help Otto get a good night’s sleep by cutting Kittydale's power so he wouldn't be scared by shadows in "Night Light".

After this, the next batch of appearances continued to focus on the rat and octopus duo, along with her knack for technology and science. These episodes include "Burble Bungle" and "Brother Battle" where she makes a popular toy to steal the city's cheese supply among other things, "Roboctopus" which features a robot she modeled after Otto, accidentally ignoring him, "Bitsy Bellyache" where she tries to send a treat truck away with an antigravity laser to finish a painting of Otto in silence, and "Bundle of Bitsies", where she makes a device called the Copycat to steal both mustard and honey for a pretzel the two were planning on eating for a snack.

Lab Rat's most prominent episodes in this season were "Lab Rat Lift-Off" where she kidnaps a celebrity kitten known as Polaris so she could take her place in an upcoming moon launch because she believes the moon is made of cheese, and "Howloween Cat" where she uses the legend of a spooky kitten to snatch treats for Otto's family's first Howloween.

The other two appearances she and Otto had in the season were "Furball Blooper" where they infiltrate the museum to take the blueprints being featured in the new space exhibit to continue her goal of reaching the moon, and "Cheesenado", where the two attack the park with a tornado made of cheese.

Season 2[]

Lab Rat and Otto reappear in the debut episode of this season titled "Jumbo Rat", in which Otto accidentally makes the rodent scientist a giant with her Go-Big-or-Go-Small ray, but she tries taking advantage by stealing all the jelly in Kittydale to eat.

Their next appearance, "Museum Mayhem", has the duo try to shred up all the paintings on the display after they misinterpret people laughing at Lab Rat's painting as them finding it lame until Ginny tells them what matters is how they feel about their artwork.

Lab Rat's life goal of reaching the moon is re-explored in "Telescope Trouble" where she tries to prove it's made of cheese, only to see the upcoming super moon and assume it's red because of strawberry flavored cheese.

Lab Rat, Otto, and Cat Burglar team up in "Cheesy Chase" to steal a huge cheese wheel known as the Great Gouda, with the former agreeing to make the latter his own robot in exchange.

In the Earth Day episode "Dastardly Dumpster", the villainous scientific duo try to cover Kittydale in trash, so the SuperKitties would be too distracted to stop them from stealing all the fish from the Kittydale fish market.

In "Wacky Weather" she creates a weather-changing device to try and give Otto some puddles to jump in, but she has trouble finding the right card to make it happen and makes other random items fall from the sky.

In "Brand New Bestie", Lab Rat and Otto calmly break their friendship with each other after the two disagree on what to paint their dumpster home, so she kidnaps other animals around town and interviews them to find herself a new friend until she learns that what matters is that she and Otto like each other, even if they have their differences.

"Favorite Fishy Cake" has her try to steal a special cake from Marci's truck to give Otto on his birthday.

She and Otto chase down Cat Burglar in "Tiny Trouble" and try to stick him in place with cheese to retrieve their Go-Big-or-Go-Small ray, but he proves to be too quick for them, and they end up trapping themselves, along with Ginny, Sparks, and Bitsy.

In "Brightest Night", Lab Rat creates a light bulb that emits a super bright light across Kittydale that disturbs everybody's sleep as part of a "no sleep sleepover" she planned on having with Otto before he left to swim out to his family in the morning, only to accept defeat when she realizes how important sleep is for everyone to be at their best.

During the events of "Slippery Situation," Lab Rat and Otto plan on taking a walk when they accidentally slip on a puddle of butter from a spilled popcorn bag by pigeon duo, Sam and Eddie. While initially annoyed, they come to enjoy sliding and attack the city with a drone called the Butter Blaster, planning to make everything slippery. Bitsy, despite her love for the same thing, manages to stop them, and Lab Rat uses Otto as a parachute, and the SuperKitties give them a rink filled with butter, so they can slide without causing trouble.

In the second Easter episode named "Egg-Celent Adventure," Lab Rat and Otto partake in the egg hunt until they see everyone already finding the other eggs and resort to stealing them. When the SuperKitties confront them, the rodent scientist claims the only thing she enjoys sharing is evil plans with Otto, and they speed away, only to be stopped by Sam and Eddie who have been chasing eggs they were watching all over town, and having the SuperKitties gather up the eggs.

The heroic felines convince the two to share the eggs they stole and are delighted to see everyone smiling at the sight of their eggs being returned.

Within "Cheese-Cano," Lab Rat threatens to flood Kittydale with her titular invention out of jealousy of both Sparks and a crow named Zelda's inventions. They all break into song, and Sparks manages to plug the food volcano with a disk-shaped device thanks to Zelda's help. Lab Rat then sadly decides to quit inventing until the SuperKitties tell her there can be more than one great inventor in the city, and she installs a faucet on her invention to give everyone cheese.

In a twist ending in "Super Silly Videos", Lab Rat is revealed to have uploaded a video of Otto anonymously for Chef Marci's contest, and they end up winning with her new treat being Octopops.

In "Colossal Quacksley," Lab Rat steals and enlarges Mr. Puppypaws' best bud, Quacksley, for Otto after she accidentally overinflated his duck floatie but ends up endangering him and the summer festival. She and Puppypaws get into an awkward moment when the two realize they've been dancing with and hugging each other while singing.

Although she nor Otto appear in the episode proper, she is mentioned in "Great Pizza Chase," when Cat Burglar mentions he stole a turbo booster from her to supercharge a pizza delivery scooter he stole to help feed a hungry raccoon baby named Coco.

In "Purr 'N Go Rescue", Lab Rat and Otto are making a rocket to finally reach the moon so they can taste its "cheese" with some extra crispy crackers, only for the rodent scientist to realize she forgot to put in an engine, so they resort to stealing the Purr 'N Go, later adding wings to it and using it as a second rocket. The SuperKitties struggle to stop them due to them swapping each other's powers earlier, and the device they used to do so was on the tail of the vehicle. Soon, they managed to retrieve the Power Switcher and return their correct powers to each other in time to stop them. Afterward, Bitsy tosses some new cheese treats to Lab Rat and Otto, and they happily eat them.
