| ~ Hellbender's angry encounter with Star-Lord in Maklu IV. |
Lady Marguerite Hellbender, also known as Lady Hellbender, is the secondary antagonist in the 2021 video game Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
She is an exotic monster collector, a collector of rare creatures, as well as the monarch of Seknarf Nine, who is reputably known to be a fearsome warrior. Hellbender is considered to be a persistent enemy to the Guardians of the Galaxy, largely during their attempted break-in within her palace.
However, after Star-Lord manages to apologise to Hellbender by giving her the revived Fin Fang Foom (after it was revived by Groot during the Guardians' battle against the dragon), she later becomes an ally to the Guardians against the Universal Church of Truth.
She was portrayed by Sarah Levesque.
Appearance[]
Lady Hellbender is a Seknarfian woman, who is considerably taller than Drax and Groot. She has blue skin, orange hair tied in a single braid, as well as light green eyes. She also wears a red draconic-themed leotard, as well as a pair of red draconic-looking gauntlets and boots.
Personality[]
On the exterior, Lady Hellbender is a fierce warrior who possesses great strength, a strong tendency to hold grudges, and a sense of honour. She is sometimes shown to be flirtatious, as she has a special adoration on Drax the Destroyer thanks to his fierce nature and his strict code of honor. and once called Adam Warlock a "precious little candy in his golden wrapper".
She also appears to be concerned about Seknarf Nine's wildlife and environment, but not about her own men's safety.
Background[]
Hellbender once served as a sacrifice for a monster, who was purportedly to be of "holy" nature. By taming the beast and escaping the sacrifice pit unhurt, she astounded everyone. Afterwards, after being reborn as "Lady Hellbender," she usurped control of the planet and changed it into a lawless fantasy world more in line with her own traits of perfidy, cunning, and ruthlessness. She is now responsible for driving priests into the teeth of monsters, leaving only the gods under her control.
In the present Hellbender is the monarch of Seknarf Nine as its "Monster Queen". Hellbender was firstly encountered by the Guardians in Chapter 4: The Monster Queen, under the pretence that they would sell Rocket and/or Groot to her, where they would use it as an opportunity to break inside her fortress. However, when their deception was soon uncovered, Hellbender furiously sent the Dweller-In-Darkness to defeat the Guardians, but only failed in doing so, thus earning her vengeful ire against them.
Hellbender is not physically seen again until Chapter 13: Against All Odds, where she and her monster army are sent to Maklu IV/Kakaranthara, moments after the Guardians defeated Fin Fang Foom. She quickly defeats the Guardians in a skirmish, before Mantis convinces her to reason with Star-Lord. Yet again, Hellbender is angered when the Guardians assumed to kill Fin Fang Foom, forcing her to choke Star-Lord out of anger, until Groot revives the beast with his newfound powers. As a result, Hellbender later joins the Guardians' cause in stopping the Universal Church of Truth.
