Lady Zhen is a character in the 14th-century Chinese classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the late Luo Guanzhong, and its multiple adaptations. She is the empress and noblewoman of Wei empire and Yuan Xi's wife and Cao Pi's first wife.


Lady Zhen was first married Yuan Xi, a son of Yuan Shao. When Yuan Xi was assigned to Provincial Governor of You, She did not going with him. While he can stayed at the Yuan Clan's residence in Ye Town to take care of his mother.

After Cao Cao defeated Yuan Shao at the Battle of Guandu, He attacked Yecheng to control the Yuan family. However, Cao Pi was with him. It was during the invasion of Yecheng that Cao Pi saw Lady Zhen, and was interested in her beauty. Finally Cao Pi married her, although Lady Zhen's first husband, Yuan Xi was still alive. Eight months later, Lady Zhen gave birth to a child named Cao Rui. There is a rumor that Cao Rui is actually the son of Yuan Xi.

When Cao Pi founded Cao Wei State. Lady Zhen has became the first empress of Wei, and Cao Rui became the first Wei's crown prince, who later became Wei's second emperor. Later on, Lady Zhen has began to fall out of Cao Pi's favor when Lady Guo, an exceptionally famed beauty, became a consort for Cao Pi. Lady Guo, who wanted to rid of her rival, gained Zhang Tao as her confidant. The minister accused Lady Zhen of using voodoo magic to cause harm to Cao Pi. Enraged, the Emperor ordered his wife to commit suicide. After her death, Lady Guo was replaced her spot as the Empress.


Lady Zhen is a dignified and proud noblewoman who yearns to find personal satisfaction in battle. While her elegance and beauty have enchanted many who come across her, as others label her beauty to be simultaneously dangerous. She has loves to flaunt her natural talents, that her pride with her status borders on arrogance and makes her seem smug. Though she acts hostile towards him on their first meeting, she genuinely grows devoted to Cao Pi during their time together.
