Char Aznable has declared Lake Girl (Monica's Gang) is to be renamed to Lake Girl for the following reason(s): No conflicting articles Please discuss it on the talk page for this article. "I told you I am not Casval, I am Char Aznable." |
The "Lake Girl" (or "Pond Girl") is Berenice’s daughter, who tragically died after falling off a cliff while trying to scare seven children on Halloween twenty years ago in Ema’s Hollow.
Alongside her mother, she became one of the infamous Flying Donkeys, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but both eventually ended up in Umbra's hell.
Biography[]
Background[]
She is the daughter of Berenice, the Flying Donkey. When she was alive, she was deeply jealous of all the children, believing her mother paid them more attention than to her. In an attempt to scare a group of children, she fell off a cliff and died. Together with her mother, she forms the Pale Horse of Death. Madame Creuzodete refers to the Lake Girl as the most evil and manipulative spirit to have ever existed.
As a child, she harbored uncontrollable envy and jealousy because her mother focused on helping poor children, and she felt that her mother gave them more attention. Her jealousy and envy were so intense that she came to hate every child in her town.
Past[]
The Lake Girl was probably born in Ema’s Hollow, daughter of the woman who gave food to poor children—Berenice. Everyone believed Berenice’s daughter was kind-hearted and, like her mother, loved seeing children happy and joyful. However, she was a very jealous and envious child. She hated all the children in her town because her mother paid more attention to them than to her. Because of this, on Halloween night of 1994, while dressed as a fairy, she came up with a plan. She decided to wear a donkey skull with two twigs as horns and scare the children her mother spent so much time with. But the plan went wrong—being night, she couldn't see properly, and she ended up falling off a cliff, dying in the process.
Emotional Cataclysm[]
When her body was found, Berenice was devastated and blamed the children for her daughter’s death. With a deep hatred for them and a desire to hold her daughter again, she spent years trying to bring her back to life. She sold her soul to the Serpent, who advised her to kill the seven children and throw them into Umbra, the purgatory. However, Berenice couldn’t enter Umbra herself because of the soul deal she made—if she did, she would go straight to hell. But nothing worked as expected. All that remained was her daughter's spirit, which continued to haunt Ema’s Hollow.
Umbra[]
Twenty years passed since her death, and Berenice saw that the group was headed to Ema’s Hollow. Along with her daughter’s malevolent spirit, she devised a plan to mark Jim Five with the Seal of Ior (the Serpent’s mark) and retrieve the Donkey Skull from Umbra to perform the ritual to bring the Lake Girl back to life. The ritual succeeded, and Berenice trapped her daughter's spirit inside the skull, thus forming the Pale Horse of Death and setting her revenge plan in motion.
They were eventually defeated by the group and the Children of Umbra. After crossing the red door, their souls were condemned to hell.
Escape from Hell[]
After the explosion of the Tomb Planet, the Lake Girl and her mother, who had been trapped in the well, were released along with the Serpent. The Lake Girl made a brief ghostly appearance to Monica, revealing that she was now free from her prison.
