Pop his clogs.
~ Lane telling his wife to kill Father Bests
Look at them. Bloody council members in their tiny houses. They blocked our prison before, Lane... and I'll blow beets if they block us again!
~ Irmgard Klaxon.
Siobhan: Well, you make a pile of money for every prisoner you take. So you pack them in like sardines, provide crap food, crap medical, dangerous conditions and zero chance for rehabilitation.
Lane (laughs evilly): I'm proud of you, dear.
Irmgard: That's our business model exactly.
~ Siobhan Klaxon learning of the true nature of her parents Lane and Irmgard.

Lane and Irmgard Klaxon are the main antagonists of the 2022 Netflix stop-motion adult animated horror comedy film Wendell & Wild, based on an unpublished book of the same name written by Henry Selick and Clay McLeod Chapman.

They are the owners of Klax Korp, a prison-developing company that aims to establish a prison system at the town of Rust Bank. Settling there once they make an alliance with Father Bests, Lane and Irmgard keep working on their plans until the mysterious appearance of Wendell and Wild proves beneficial to their business.

Lane Klaxon was voiced by David Harewood, who also played Joshua Naismith in Doctor Who, Captain Poison in Blood Diamond, Captain Quinton Cole in Battlefield 3, Thomas Sinclair in Killzone: Shadow Fall, Hank Henshaw in The CW's Supergirl and Warlin Door in Alan Wake II: Night Springs. Irmgard Klaxon was voiced by Maxine Peake, who also played Blanche DuBois in the 2016 A Streetcar Named Desire play.

Personality[]

Lane and Irmgard Klaxon own Klax Korp, a company that is planning to build a corrupt prison on Rust Bank to profit off from the prisoners taken in. They do not care about, nor consider giving any second chance to any troubled person, not even their own daughter, and only care about making profits and don't hesitate to kill to get what they want.

They're also incredibly selfish as their arson of Delroy Elliot's brewery, the heart of Rust Bank, caused Rust Bank's economic downturn, forcing people out of business and their homes.

Biography[]

It is first shown that Lane and Irmgard Klaxon plan on building their prison first by asking Delroy Elliot to sell the Rust Bank Brewery, which Delroy denies. During the memorial of Kat's parents, the brewery mysteriously burns down, with all of the brewery workers lost as a result. During then, Father Bests vouched to the Klaxons to support the Rust Bank Catholic. They then reached out to the council members to build their prison, but were rejected every time.

Later on, the Klaxons play golf when Father Bests joins along, they confront him on how the RBC is taking their prisoners. When they talked about where there could get their votes for the prison, Bests tells them about how the old-guard members could vote for them, but they are dead. The Klaxons then announce to him that they will no longer support him and the RBC. They kill him by hitting him with a golf club and dragged him to a pond to drown in, as well as dropping their golfing equipment with him to hide the evidence.

Wendell and Wild then revive Father Bests and ask him for payment for their faire, Bests tells them about reviving the old-guard members for their payment. The three later meet up with the Klaxons when Lane and Irmgard confront the now-revived Father Bests, he introduces them to Wendell and Wild and tells them that they can revive the old-guard members so they can win the vote. Irmgard tells them that Wendell and Wild can build their dream faire once they are paid by the Klaxons, and Lane tells Bests that RBC will have the Klaxons support again. They then tell the three that they cannot raise anyone else from the graveyard, including Kat's parents, or the Klaxons will not give their support to them.

Once the old-guard members were revived, they met up with the council members, and since they had the right to vote because they were alive, the vote was won for the Klaxon's favor, and the prison could now start construction on Rust Bank. The Klaxons celebrate and give Bests the support money.

Lane and Irmgard then appear at the start of the construction project. Irmgard announces to the old-guard members to get ready to demolish Rust Bank until the Klaxons notice Kat and her friends and family protesting against the construction, which Irmgard then tells the members to start their bulldozers anyways. Kat and the gang stop the old-guard members from demolishing the town and the Klaxons attempt to get away but are then stopped by the police and were arrested due to the witnesses being alive to tell them about their arson attack on the brewery to incentivize Rust Bank to build their business.

Trivia[]

  • Irmgard bears a striking resemblance to Cruella De Vil from Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, especially since both wear fur coats, have a British accent and are rich, while Lane appears to resemble Boris Johnson, a conservative Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
