Langris Vaude is one of the supporting characters in Black Clover, and the main antagonist of the Royal Knights Selection Exam Arc. He is the younger half-brother of Finral Roulacase, who became the heir of House Vaude after Finral's failure to perform attack spells with his spatial magic. He used to be the vice-captain of Golden Dawn, the top magic knight squad of Golden Dawn.
He is voiced by Kaito Ishikawa in Japanese, and Clifford Chapin in English.
Personality[]
Due to his upbringing, Langris used to be extremely arrogant regarding his powers when he was getting praised by his parents. Due to which, he looked down upon anyone not "suited" to his stature, including the servants and commoners. When Yuno rose in the ranks in the Golden Dawn, Langris dismissed him as a "peasant" and declared he will bring him down to restore the Golden Dawn's reputation to accept only nobles.
History[]
Langris Vaude was born as the second son to the head of House Vaude and the younger brother to Finral. While the two siblings were on good terms in his childhood, Langris's talent with spatial magic as well as Finral's lack of effort slowly began to form a rift between them. Due to the heads of House Vaude being selected due to their attack potential, Langris was selected as the heir to House Vaude.
Despite this, the servants as well as other nobles preferred Finral for his kind nature and charisma, while Langris was spoiled by his parents. Unable to understand the divide, Langris slowly went insane and began bullying his half-brother, causing him to run away.
Eventually, Langris became a member of the Golden Dawn and rose up the ranks to become the vice-captain of the guild, right beneath William Vangeance. When Yuno joined the Golden Dawn, Langris opposed the recruitment along with some other members due to Yuno coming from a peasant background, but was overriden by Vangeance.
During the Royal Magical Knights Selection Exam, Langris decided to lead the batallion against the Elves. Seeing Finral on the opposing side among the Black Bulls, Langris haughtily dismissed them and promised to crush him.
Langris is allied with Sekke and Fragil in Team G. While the other two are freaking out about their opponents, Langris began plotting to eliminate Finral as soon as possible.
