~ Laura's Temper Tantrum

Laura Limpin, also known as the Big Badolescent, is a minor antagonist from Codename: Kids Next Door. She's a young girl with the ability to turn into her altered personality through anger.

Appearance[]

Laura Limpin is regularly a small girl with red glasses, black pigtails, white shoes, yellow shirt, and red overalls, but when she becomes the Big Badolescent, her clothes become a red suit with a capital "A" and her face and back get covered in acne.

Personality[]

Laura Limpin has a dual personality: one as a sweet, innocent child and another as her monstrous, enraged alter-ego, the "Big Badolescent". This transformation is similar to Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk, where a specific trigger unleashes a powerful and destructive persona.

As Laura Limpin[]

  • Sweet and innocent: In her default state, Laura is an unassuming, nerdy little girl who loves parties and playing games.
  • Socially naive: Despite her love for celebrations, she has trouble making friends, largely due to her tendency to lose her temper. In her debut episode, she is manipulated by the Delightful Children from Down the Lane and doesn't seem to realize she's being used.
  • Prone to temper tantrums: While normally calm, she is easily set off by minor inconveniences. A bad mood or a minor setback is enough to trigger her other side.
  • Specific triggers: Her most notable triggers include the taste of coconut cake, which she despises, and things not going her way during party games.

As the Big Badolescent[]

  • Angry and aggressive: Her alter-ego is a hulking, aggressive, and unreasonable teenager with a short temper.
  • Physically violent and destructive: The Badolescent is extremely strong and powerful, effortlessly causing chaos and destruction. She beat up the Delightful Children from Down the Lane off-screen after they upset her.
  • Speaks in Hulk-like style: She speaks in incomplete sentences and often refers to herself in the third person.
  • Immature and impulsive: The Big Badolescent is essentially a superpowered version of a childish tantrum. She acts out to get her way over trivial matters.
  • Teenage appearance: Her transformed appearance is that of a teenager covered in pimples, representing the turmoil of puberty.

Interpretation of her personality[]

The two sides of Laura Limpin's personality can be seen as a metaphorical representation of the extreme mood swings and hormonal changes that can occur during puberty. She does not appear to be intentionally evil, but her destructive nature makes her a formidable—if naive—villain. It is unclear if she is even aware of her true destructive potential, or how to control it.

Biography[]

Laura first appears as the DCFDTL's muscle in the episode "Operation: C.A.K.E.D.", being used to intimate Sector V and keep them from leaving the group's birthday party. When they finally grab the cake and use a bunch of hamsters to escape, Laura becomes the Big Badolescent and tries to pull the mansion back together, before turning on the DCFDTL after learning the cake was coconut flavor, which she hates.

Her next significant appearance was in "Operation: Q.U.I.E.T." as a member of the Skunky Scouts, selling cookies to Sector V while they were trying to keep things silent so Numbuh 1 could sleep.

Trivia[]

  • Laura is noted to be stupid by both the Delightful Children and the KND.
    • She had ZERO clue the Delightful Children were using her the entirety of Operation: C.A.K.E.D.
      • Bonus points for evil in that she hijacked someone else's birthday to force others to play games with her.
    • She attempted to sell cookies to KIDS at NIGHT.
      • Bonus stupidity for the fact she went to a treehouse instead of a normal one.
  • Considering how vexing and one dimensional her character as a bad guy is (hormonal temper tantrums), it makes sense Big Badolescent didn't show up more than twice.
