Lauren, also known as Scary Girl, is a minor antagonist in both Total Drama Island 2023 and Total Drama Island 2024.

She is a mysterious girl who joins Total Drama to make a lot of new "friends" and watch them get really hurt, unlike the other contestants. Furthermore, Lauren is shown to be much more sadistic than the others, stalking and trying to murder the other contestants, including her own teammates (as demonstrated by her attempt to murder Damien with a jackhammer).

She was voiced by Katie Griffin, who also voiced Amber Green in Stoked.

Appearance

Scary Girl is pale, and has super light blue pupils. She has purple hair in pigtails with pink curtain bangs and pink highlights on the pigtails. She wears a navy-blue puffy sleeved corset dress with pink string with magenta buttons. She also has magenta and dark magenta thigh high stripped socks with light purple big boots.

Personality

She is shown to be truly psychotic. She is a somewhat unhinged yet at the same time unpredictable one. Referred to as "Scary Girl" by her peers due to her love of all things horror and her ability to freak out people in more ways than one, she loves the idea of making things more fearful and enjoys screams regardless of if they are her teammates or on the opposing team. However, given the choice between keeping people alive and seeing them dead, she would rather see them alive so she can continue to hear them scream, which easily makes Lauren one of the most dangerous contestants in the show's history since the likes of Mal and Scarlett.

In season two, she decides to try "to conform to societal norms" after being told by everyone she is too scary. She went as far as to wearing the opposite of what she usually does and not try to injure anyone. She tried to change her ways, and be nicer, and less "scary" to the others.

Biography

Total Drama Island (2023)

Lauren arrives to Total Drama Island (2023) with the rest of rebooted contestants in "Meet the Victims". She is taken to Camp Wawanakwa in a boat driven by an intern, who looks scared for her appearance. As shown in her audition, where she seemingly blows a clown up, Lauren's interest in joining the show is to make lots of new "friends" and watch them get really hurt. At the Dock of Shame, Chris McLean welcomes her to Wawanakwa, but Lauren warns him to he shouldn't look at her, a request Chris happily accepts, referring to her as "Scary Girl" from that point onwards. Once Chris and Chef Hatchet form the teams and place her in the Ferocious Trout, Scary Girl asks if she can join the Frogs of Death due to having "death" in their name, but Chris refuses and tells everyone to move to their cabins before their first challenge starts. While looking for beds, Scary Girl asks Priya if she screams in her sleep, and when Priya says that she doesn't, Scary Girl enigmatically says that they will see. During the challenge, Scary Girl doesn't do much but the Ferocious Trout win.

In "Pirates of the Cabbagean", Scary Girl is first seen under the cabins, coming out only to kill some of the roasted squirrel Axel cooked for breakfast, being the only one alongside Zee to enjoy Axel's meal. Later on, everyone goes to the beach, where Chris and Chef tell them that today's challenge will involve a battle in Lake Wawanakwa aboard pirate ships with cabbage cannonballs. Scary Girl doesn't vote for neither Axel or Ripper to be captains, but performs well in the challenge, avoiding all enemy shots. After Damien is knocked into the lake and almost gets eaten by a shark, Scary Girl saves him (admitting in the confessional that while Damien would scream a lot if the shark had eaten him, he wouldn't have screamed ever again afterwards, so she needed to save him if she were to hear his screams again) and then warns him about the shark's interest in still eating him. However, once only she and Zee remain aboard, Scary Girl proposes a reluctant Zee to ram their ship against the Frogs of Death's so they can at least tie. Immediately afterwards, a cannonball knocks Scary Girl off the ship, leading Zee to take her suggestion, but a seagull causes him to sink their ship. Anyway, though she is reprimanded by Chef for her destructive suggestions, Scary Girl is safe and Axel gets the boot.

In "Drown Town Abbey", Scary Girl creepily shows excitement at the Obstacle Course of Death challenge and laughs at Ripper along with her team when he is mocked by Chris for his stupidity. She gets angry when Ripper sexistly forces her, Priya and Millie to go last after him, Zee and Chase to retrieve the combination to free Damien from the cell filling with water, trying to bite him on the finger for that and then singing in the confessional about her wishes to hide a body with claps. Scary Girl goes last in the challenge, and despite the lead the Frogs of Death have, Scary Girl ends up excelling at every part of the course, even beating up a bear for growling at her, succeeding at retrieving the code's last number due to Nichelle Ladonna's mental breakdown and saving Damien.

In "Numbskull Island", Scary Girl is first seen at the main lodge, carving up a table with a spoon, when Priya approaches her at the possibility of teaming up with her and Millie for an alliance to get rid of Ripper. However, Scary Girl intidimates Priya and attempts to stab her with her sharpened spoon due to Zee revealing that Priya considers her weird, but Chris announces the next challenge so everyone goes to meet him. Scary Girl expresses her excitement when she learns that the challenge involves finding skulls, but gets sad when Chris assures her that the skulls are fake, though that doesn't prevent her from proposing to use Damien's skull. When Ripper takes the lead for the challenge and tells his teammates to go for things to defend their skull, Scary Girl takes a jackhammer that Chef accidentally left on their zone and chases down Bowie, Wayne, Raj and MK with it to make one of them her first "crush", leading them to hide in a bush before they throw MK out as a distraction, so she chases MK down to make some "MK jam" until MK gets to hide in a control room. Shortly afterwards, Damien comes across Scary Girl and she chases him despite both being on the same team due to finding his screams "delicious". As she corners Damien, Scary Girl retrieves the opposite team's skull but decides to give it a makeover before giving it to Chris, resulting in the Ferocious Trout losing the challenge and making everyone get angry at her. Realizing that she is getting the boot, Scary Girl hastily tries to team up with Priya and Millie to vote Ripper off for using the former as a human shield during the challenge, but Millie backstabs the alliance and votes for Scary Girl, resulting in her elimination. She swears that in some years she will have her vengeance on all those who betrayed her, only to then happily leave. As she walks by the Dock of Shame, Scary Girl notes that with all the people she has known in the show, she can track them down in case she ever needs an organ, before pulling out an umbrella and being taken away by the Drone of Despair, discreetly taking her team's skull with her.

Scary Girl later returns with all the eliminated contestants for the finale in "Magma Cum Laude". She sits on the "failure benches" with everyone else, but doesn't get chosen by Priya, Millie and Bowie as a helper. Throughout the challenge, Scary Girl makes comments that creep out her fellow contestants about how dangerous the challenge is. In Priya's ending, despite their previous animosity, Scary Girl cheers for Priya when she wins the season. She then accompanies everyone to the last campfire ceremony of the season and praises Priya for eating the last marshmallow. Scary Girl then joins everyone in celebrating Chris announcing that they are all invited back for a rematch next season.

Total Drama Island (2024)

Scary Girl returns for Total Drama Island (2024) in "The Pink Painter Strikes Again!", now dressing differently and acting like a normal person in such a way that her fellow contestants don't recognize her at first. In her confessional, Scary Girl reveals that after being told by her mother and fan message boards how scary she is, she decided to change herself and act like a normal teenager. During the team selection, Bowie picks her over Nichelle and Ripper for the Skunk Butt, thinking she was a new contestant, but is dismayed upon finding out he just picked Scary Girl despite her assuring him that he will not regret it. During the challenge, Scary Girl gets hit by Chef's grandmother Axe Hatchet throwing a paint balloon to her as several of her teammates, leading her to ask for more paint, which Axe does by throwing her another. In the end, the Rat Face team wins and the Skunk Butt team loses, leading all of them to go for elimination. However, before anyone could cast their votes, Scary Girl decides to make an announcement, telling her teammates about how much she has changed since last season, having gone to great lenghts from reading normal books and watching normal movies to even spy on them, creepily revealing that she has sometimes spied them at their houses either from the windows or from their closets. Because of this, all her teammates resolve to vote Scary Girl off over Bowie, much to her dismay. As she walks by the Dock of Shame, Scary Girl complains about being eliminated for trying to adjust to societal norms, leading her to swear for vengeance on everyone, maniacally laughing as the Drone of Despair takes her away.

Scary Girl makes a brief appearance in a pre-recorded video seen in "Choosin' for a Bruisin'", during a challenge where Chris shows a montage of videos of questions he asked to the contestants before their last season. Among them is a video of Scary Girl, in which Chris asks her if she would like to be interrogated by Chef with a truth serum or eat his cooking for a year, leading Emma to tell Axel to pick option B, but they fail to get the point as Scary Girl's answer was option A while also revealing that she has skeletons in her closet because she lives in a funeral home, resulting in Axel being thrown in the pool full of wolverines used for the challenge. Immediately afterwards, Chris admits that he is missing Scary Girl.

In "Haulin' n' Braulin'", a huge Scary Girl robot is part of the pinball course Chris and Chef use for the challenge. At one point, Damien ends up near her and the robotic Scary Girl asks him if he is ready for pain. Damien says that no, but fails to run away and the robotic Scary Girl drills him into the ground with a jackhammer, giving Damien a high score but making him dizzy enough to walk out of the challenge.

Trivia

• Scary Girl is, along with Chase and Ripper, are the only villains in the Ferocious Trout team.
• She is the only goth in the Total Drama series to have a villainous tone, not counting Gwen's Total DramaRama counterpart as a toddler, while Gwen (TDR) has an ominous tone.
• Her real name, Lauren, was only mentioned once during her introduction and was never mentioned by any of the contestants.
• Scary Girl easily is, alongside Mal and Scarlett, one of the few Total Drama contestants with a willingness to murder. In her audition tape, she blows up a big top and a shoe lands next to her suggesting there may have been someone inside.
