Lawson is a minor character in the crime drama series Breaking Bad and its prequel series Better Call Saul. He is an arms dealer based in Albuquerque who sells guns, both legally and illegally.
He was portrayed by Jim Beaver, who also portrayed Clint McKay in Dexter.
Personality[]
Lawson has a calm and collected demeanor and has been selling illegal weapons and ammunition to clients for thirty years, as well as other amenities such as vehicles. Despite selling weapons to criminals, he has standards in his activities as seen when he sells guns to Walter White and Mike Ehrmantraut, recommending that the former purchase a gun legally for far cheaper if his only motivation is defense and telling the latter not to worry when he apologized for not buying any of Lawson's rifles. He also prioritizes the best interests of his clients, as seen when he declines money for his troubles from Mike and also giving him a free box of ammunition, and advising Walt to not break laws if his intention is within the law.

Better Call Saul[]
Lawson offers a range of rifles to Mike, who eventually changes his mind and decides not to make a purchase, but still offers some cash to Lawson for his time. Lawson declines the money.
Mike later meets up again with Lawson, who assists him in test-firing one of the rifles he showed him earlier. Mike purchases it, and Lawson gives him the sniper rifle along with a box of ammunition for free.
Breaking Bad[]
Season 4[]
Lawson sells a .38 snub-nosed revolver to Walt, who has been referred to him by Saul Goodman. After Walt states the gun is for defense, Lawson advises him to buy it legally instead as there is no point in carrying an illegal firearm if he is not a convicted felon. However, Walt still chooses to buy it and pays Lawson.
Season 5[]
Walt, who prepares to return to Albuquerque after hiding in New Hampshire for several months, asks Lawson to provide him with an M60 and a new car. They meet at a Denny's in the restroom to discuss the purchase. Lawson asks for confirmation that "it" will not be crossing the border, to which Walt replies "it" will not even leave town, and tells Walt that he printed an instruction manual from the Internet. After the purchase, Lawson gives Walt the keys to the car, which the gun is hidden in, and wishes him good luck before leaving.
