The LeQuint Dickey Mining Company are a minor group of unseen villains in the film Django Unchained.
They were mining company, that used slaves to mine, until they collapse of exhaustion, before getting killed, when their usefulness has expired.
Their employees Frankie was portrayed by Quentin Tarantino, Floyd was portrayed by John Jarrat, and Roy was by Michael Parks.
History[]
The mining company was presumably founded by a man named LeQuint Dickey in the state of Mississippi, although the year of it's founding and what exactly the mine is for is never revealed, whether it be coal, precious ores, or stone for building materials.
According to Stephen, the mining company is extremely abusive towards their African-American slaves, as even talking back towards any of the slave masters results in their tongues being removed and then being forced to continue working. Upon arriving to the mines, a slave has their name taken away from them in place of just a number as well as a sledgehammer. The slave is then worked non-stop until they collapse from exhaustion and physically cannot move anymore and at which point, they are struck on their head with a hammer to knock them unconscious and their body is tossed down a hole where they die amongst countless other dead slaves.
When Django got captured after a shootout in Candyland mansion in which Calvin Candie was killed, he was supossed to be transferred to them, but during transportation, he tricks three employees of the LeQuint Dickey Mining Company, Frankie, Jano and Floyd, into giving him one of their revolvers and proceeded to kill all three of them.
It is unknown as to what happens to the mining company after the events of the film, but is can be reasonably assumed that after the civil war, they would be forced to free any living slaves and potentially run out of business if they don't hire new willing workers.
