What good is Tekken? It's an ancient voodoo! Against real adversaries like Rex it's worthless. This is going to fundamentally change the balance of the world's military powers. Rex is the perfect commando for the ground-level guerrilla combat. And I will be the one at the helm! Controlling the Mishima Conglomerate! And thus, ruling the entire world. Father, this is what it means to be the strongest in the world.
~ Lee while watching the Rex-experiments overpowering Kazuya and Jun.

Lee Chaolan is the secondary antagonist of the 1998 OVA anime film Tekken: The Motion Picture. He is the adoptive son of Heihachi Mishima and the adoptive brother of Kazuya Mishima. He is a cruel and manipulative heir to the Mishima Conglomerate who will do whatever it takes kill his brother to receive the company and earn his father's respect.

He was voiced by Shin'ichirō Miki in the Japanese dub and by David Stokey in the English dub.

Biography[]

He first in the movie when he goes to the central tower to inform his father about the tournament starts in three days and the Rex-experiment are completed. Heihachi questions him about Kazuya’s whereabouts, which Lee tells him that his brother could show up at the tournament. Lee is seen in a car with Nina Williams, talking about Kazuya's return and saying he's the one who made the Mishima Conglomerate it is now. He hires Nina to kill Kazuya and can't bear of losing her. Later that night, he is seen with Nina's sister, Anna, in a hotel while talking to the latter on the phone about her failure to assassinate Kazuya, revealing to be manipulating both sisters to kill his brother by pretending to have affection for both of them.

One day before the tournament, Jun and Lei head towards the boat, they see Jack-2 and Jane trying to get on the boat but are stopped by Lee's guards, who were defeated by Jun and Lei. Lee sees Jack-2 and has one of his bodyguards Bruce Irvin to fight the latter, if he wins he'll participate in the tournament. However, Bruce is defeated easily by Jack, who is able to participate in the tournament. While the ship head towards the island, Kazuya jumps onto the ship from a bridge. Lee greets, but secretly worried about his plans.

On the day of the tournament, Lee greets the fighters and tells them that the island's central tower will be the final round. Heihachi appears and is attacked by Michelle Chang but outsmarts her. He tell the fighters that he'll be waiting at the island's tower for the final round.

At the tower, Lee watches the tournament from an operating room and uses the fighters as his guinea pigs for the Rex-experiment. The operators notice some of the fighters are missing. Once Lei, Jack and Jane enter the research facility, the operators located them and Lee sends Prototype Jacks to kill them, having the perfect chance to test them. Checking to see the R-experiment group are ready, one of the operators inform Lee that both Nina and Anna are still in the battlefield, but the latter leaves them and use them as test subject to the R-experiments.

Waiting in the tower, Lee informs him that the R-experiments are ready and apologizes for spoiling his fun, thinking any of the fighters and Kazuya wouldn’t survive. But Heihachi belittles Lee for his creations and being weak. In the operating room, Lee sadistically laughs and watches Kazuya and Jun nearly being beaten by the Rex-experiment group. He also states that he'll takeover the entire world once he has full control over the Mishima Conglomerate. However, Kazuya was able to overpower and kill all of the Rex-experiments, with only one surviving and leaving Lee shocked to witness his creations failed.

Once Kazuya reaches the central tower, Lee faces him and lands a punch on him. But Kazuya tells his moves won't work when use by someone who doesn't believe in Ken. Lee tries to attack again but was defeated by Kazuya's upper cut. Heihachi appears and Lee tries to convince him to let him continue fighting Kazuya, but fails after the latter hits him out of the way and calls him worthless before fighting Kazuya. Realizing he won't receive the Mishima Conglomerate, Lee kills the operators and sets off the self-destruct sequence and killing himself inside the tower when it explodes.

Personality[]

Much like his videogame counterpart, he is arrogant, cunning, cruel and megalomaniac fighter much like his father, Heihachi. He uses his charm to seduce both Nina and Anna to have them to assassinate his brother Kazuya. He is shown to have a massive ego, believing he should be the rightful heir to the Mishima Conglomerate and will do whatever it takes to prove to his father that he is strong, even using the tournament to test out his experiments on the fighters and letting Nina and Anna to die.

This iteration of Lee lacks all of his videogame counterpart's altruistic and sympathetic qualities, he is just as power-hungry as both Kazuya and Heihachi in the game, but without his adoptive father's sense of honor.

Appearance[]

Like in the games, Lee has silver short hair with long fringes on each side and blue eyes. He wears a purple coat over a yellow vest and a red formal tie with a white gem in the center and wears brown shoes.
