| ~ Dixon to the Hispanic inmates after abusing his power. |
Lee Dixon is a supporting antagonist in seasons four and five of the Netflix prison dramedy Orange is the New Black.
He is an army veteran who is brought in as a new Correctional Officer after the guard walkout in season three. He demonstrates sadistic, misogynistic approaches to discipline, as well as violent tendencies.
He is portrayed by Mike Houston, who also portrayed Harvey Weinstein in She Said.
Personality[]
Officer Dixon's personality is first presented as a childish, immature and sadistic officer. He takes pleasure in abusing the female inmates of the prison, in particular the Hispanic inmates. In season seven, Officer Dixon seems to have learned from his mistakes and shows a more caring, sympathetic disposition.
Physical appearance[]
Dixon is a tall, overweight Caucasian male with auburn hair. He is seen primarily wearing his CO uniform.
Biography[]
Background[]
Dixon served in the US military in the Afghanistan operations. During this time, Dixon satisfied his sadistic ideations by having a young Afghani juggle live grenades until they exploded, and strangling a girl in an Afghani village during sex because the village would kill her for it either way. It is known his background is from Memphis, Tennessee.
Orange is the New Black[]
After the guards quit en-masse in season three, MCC, the new private company that takes over Litchfield, hire veterans as COs. Throughout season four, he participates in the racial profiling of the Hispanic inmates after Piper Chapman seeks to sabotage their business. Alongside this, Officer Dixon lives in the guard house, where he spends most of his time drinking and playing video games with the other COs.
After Aydin Bayat's body is found in the garden, the prison is put on lockdown. Tasha Jefferson asks CO Dixon what time they plan on wrapping up so they can sleep, but CO Dixon chooses to destroy Jefferson's watch, which had become a precious item to her, and reflective of her independence.
When CO Thomas Humphrey brings a gun into the prison after Bayat's body is discovered, it falls into the hands of Dayanara Diaz after a protest starts against the death of Poussey Washington. Beforehand, Dixon and CO Stratman allow Humps into the prison despite knowing he is holding a weapon.
In season five,. Dixon is apprehended by various (usually seen as non-threatening) inmates and held hostage by Maria Ruiz, and is given a forced anal cavity search by the inmates as revenge for his racial profiling. When Leanne Taylor and Angie Rice come into possession of Humphrey's gun, they stage "Litchfield Idol", and force Dixon to sing a song. When Suzanne Warren begins experiencing severe effects from not receiving her medication, Cindy Hayes and Alison Abdullah 'purchase' Dixon to be playmates for her and keep her stable.
Eventually, Maria releases the hostages in order to have her sentence reduced. Dixon then begins working at the Maximum Security division. He is seen being driven by Charlie Coates, who secretly hides Tiffany Doggett (an escaped inmate) in the trunk to plan a roadtrip. Dixon discovers Coates' itinerary for the trip, but Dixon wrongly believes it is a suicidal bucket list, and aims to help Coates with his depression and PTSD. Eventually, Dixon discovers Doggett, but agrees not to turn him in and spends the remainder of the trip with them.
Doggett disguises herself as a man, and when showing affection to Coates, is homophobically insulted by a group of teenagers. Dixon confronts the teens, and shows allegiance to them, whilst also self-referencing his own personal reform. When Doggett leaves Coates and Dixon returns to the Maximum Security division, they begin an unlikely friendship. Dixon shows remorse after Doggett dies from an overdose.
