Now, you're probably thinking, "Gee. Isn't it ironic for a Luthor to fund a Superman museum?" But I assure you, I am not my brother. I have a full head of hair.
~ Lena Luthor

Lena Luthor is the main antagonist of Season 5 of the adult animated series Harley Quinn.

She is the younger sister of Lex Luthor, the new girlfriend of Bruce Wayne, and an ally of Brainiac. She uses her facade as a socialite to cover her malign true self; a power-hungry, sadistic, and narcissistic person with her own plans of world domination.

She was voiced by Aisha Tyler.

Personality[]

Despite presenting herself as a kind, friendly and caring person (unlike her brother), Lena is actually very cunning, machiavellian and manipulative: intentionally seducing Bruce Wayne to get him on her side and allying with an alien conqueror to achieve her goals. Not minding brainwashing her new friends to achieve this.

She utterly despises her brother; in the episode "Family Feuds" she uses Brainiac's technology to paint all of Metropolis teal because he hates that color, and installs stores that sell currated art (which he also hates). Her journal is full of "revenge fantasy" snippets of Lex being killed in grusome ways, most with illustrations.

History[]

Early life[]

Lena was treated badly by her brother when both were children. He insulted her, refused to share his toys, and claimed their parents considered her a "mistake". Clearly, this caused her to hold a grudge that would last to the present day.

Sometime between the events of seasons 3 and 5, Lena leaked information of Lex's criminal activities to the Daily Planet, resulting in Lois Lane writing an expose that led to Lex being arrested and convicted.

Lena began dating Bruce sometime after the events of Season 4, and allied herself with the Coluan conqueror Vril Dox, which she nicknamed Brainiac, both part of a long-running revenge scheme against her brother.

Season 5[]

With Lex in prison, Lena became benefactor of Superman's museum, hoping to rebrand LuthorCorp and distance it from Lex. In the opening day of the museum, she met Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. At some point, Lena got the Heart of Darkness diamond from Catwoman, who had Eclipso's spirit inside until Harley killed him.

Powers and Abilities[]

Former powers[]

  • Augmented Physiology: Lena's body and brain were augmented with extremely advanced cyber-prosthetics by Brainiac's Skullship, which are very powerful. While connected to his ship, Lena's mental capacities were also enhanced to superhuman levels.
    • Technopathy: While linked to Brainiac's ship, Lena's superhuman mind can can even mentally interface with technological equipment, as well as control Brainiac's entire ship with her thoughts alone.
    • Flight: Lena possess the ability to fly while connected to Brainiac's ship.
    • Tentacles: Since she connected her body to Brainiac's ship, Lena adquired several retractable "tentacles", which are also highly self-efficient in combat.

Abilities[]

  • Genius-level intellect: Lena is a highly cunning and manipulative individual, as well as an excellent businesswoman. She gradually gained Bruce's trust, while still maintaining a stern façade towards him, over time (with a touch of seduction).

Trivia[]

  • This is the first African-american version of Lena Luthor.
  • Lena's affiliation with Brainiac is similar to Lena and Queen Rhea's relationship from Supergirl.
  • This version of Lena also wears several outfits similar to her Arrowverse counterpart.
  • While connected to Brainiac's Skullship, Lena is similar to The Thinker. She also has similarities to Davros.
  • She is third known love interest to Bruce Wayne in the Harley Quinn continuity the first being Catwoman and the second being Talia al Ghul.
  • Lena is possibly the cruelest villain in the series, at least as far as the main cast is concerned. Among her evil acts, she seduced Bruce Wayne in order to betray and use him, kidnapped Frankette in order to cause a schism between Harley and Ivy, paid Harley's own father to murder her, and when he failed to do so, murdered him. Likely worst of all, she attempts to kill the pair and Harley's mother by using Brainic's shrink ray on them and placing them in an empty bottle to starve. Plus her overall plan was to kill her own brother out of revenge after rebuilding Metropolis in a way he finds abhorrent, all because he refused to share his toys when they were both children.
