DIE YOU B***ARD!
~ Leon successfully dropping a ton of steel on top of Robocop.

Leon C. Nash is a supporting antagonist of the 1987 sci-fi action film Robocop.

He was portrayed by Ray Wise, who also portrayed Leland Palmer on Twin Peaks and John Nelson on Criminal Minds.

History[]

Leon was first seen in the getaway truck with the rest of Clarence Boddicker's gang. Later, at the warehouse, he is alerted to Murphy's presence when the latter kills one of the thugs. As Murphy arrests Emil, Leon and Steve pump their guns and point them at him, asking Emil to let them take over, but Emil ignores the request and gets ready to shoot Murphy. They are stopped by Clarence Boddicker, who has them brutally gun down the officer.

2 years later, Leon is seen dancing at a disco party. RoboCop breaks in and asks him about Clarence's whereabouts. Leon immediately pulls a gun which gets swatted by RoboCop (and lands in the hands of a partygoer). Leon casually laughs off the attack with hands up, then tries to surprise kick RoboCop in the groin, which backfires, leaving Leon to scream and curse in pain. As Leon falls to the floor, RoboCop then grabs him by his hair and drags him across the floor.

Leon presumably did tell RoboCop where Clarence is, since RoboCop is later seen at the factory where Clarence works.

Despite this, he is later seen with the rest of the gang when they are released from prison by Dick Jones to take down Robocop after Lt. Hedgecock failed to do so due to the interference of Anne Lewis. In the climax, he uses Joe as a shield with marks the fall of the Boddicker gang. As Clarence enters the 6000 SUX, Leon runs up a flight of stairs to take a few quick direct shots at Robocop, which ultimately miss, leaving Leon to retreat from the advancing cyborg. As he runs through the Steel Mill, he freaks out when a disfigured Emil (having crashed the van into a container filled with toxic waste while trying to run over RoboCop) comes running to him for help. Eventually Leon catches up with the car crashed Clarence, the former being unseen at a higher elevation. Leon hints at his location to Clarence so the latter can distract Robocop while Leon rushes to the nearby crane control room. After using a giant crane to drop a ton of scrap metal on RoboCop and incapacitating him, he yells and cheers, believing to have killed RoboCop. His triumph is short lived: as he celebrates his successful attack, Leon is killed mid-sentence by Officer Anne Lewis with Clarence's fallen Cobra assault rifle. Shortly after Leon's death, Clarence was brutally killed by RoboCop marking the end of the Boddicker gang. After Dick Jones' death after The Old Man fired him for murdering Bob and ordering the ex-SWAT leader to destory RoboCop, a new cult called Nuke is on the rise in the wake of the deaths of Clarence and his gang.

Trivia[]

  • His Police File NO. is FS078437I.
  • During the Boddicker gang's final reunion scene, Leon slaps on the roof of the 6000 SUX. When he does so, the car's central rearview mirror falls.
  • At the Steel Mill, Leon is seen outside the crane's controls cheering to Clarence. When Anne Lewis fires a round from the Cobra Assault Cannon, immediately as the scene shifts to the crane control room exploding, Leon is nowhere to be seen.
  • In the Sega Genesis version of the video game Robocop versus The Terminator, one of the enemy thugs' appearances is based off of Leon.
  • The scene where Leon is horrified after seeing Emil's disfigured appearance was genuine. Ray Wise was not informed what Paul McCrane would look like with the disfigured makeup.
