Harold Jenkins, better known as Leonard Peabody, is the main antagonist of the first season of The Umbrella Academy, and was the show's adaptation of the Conductor from the original comics the series was based on.
He was a spiteful and highly intelligent serial killer with a strong vendetta against the Umbrella Academy. After discovering that Viktor Hargreeves, the only Academy member seemingly without superpowers, actually had his abilities repressed by his father, Leonard formed a relationship with Viktor and manipulated him to unlock his abilities and exact his revenge on the Hargreeves family.
He was played by John Magaro, who also played Silvio Dante in The Many Saints of Newark.
Biography[]
Born the same day as the heroes albeit being a normal human, Harold's birth caused his mother's demise, leaving his father to become abusive towards him. Rejected from the Umbrella Academy to his lack of powers and left to be a punching bag to his father, Harold eventually murdered his father, received twelve years in prison for the crime, and changed his name.
Eventually, Leonard eventually got in contact with Viktor, manipulating him in an attempt to instigate the apocalypse, and his real name being eventually discovered by the heroes through a criminal file and a note made by Cha-Cha.
Leonard later takes Viktor to his grandmother's house, trying to get him to use his abilities. However, Allison reveals the truth on Leonard's past, and through rising conflict between the two, a overwhelmed Viktor slashes at Allison's throat, nearly killing her and rendering her mute. Believing himself to have killed her, Viktor runs off with Leonard. Despite this, Leonard meets his end by unleashing his spiteful, abusive nature towards Viktor in an attempt to use him to kill his family, which causes Viktor to turn on and kill him.
Personality[]
Originally determined to join the Umbrella Academy, Leonard became insane and cruel after years of abuse of his father and for being rejected. While being with Vanya he pretended to be nice and caring to her, in reality, he only used her for her powers to get revenge on the academy. When she discovered this, he went so far as verbally and belittle her, which resulted in his downfall.
