Les Moore is a minor antagonist in The Simpsons. He was Santa's Little Helper's original owner before abandoning him on the racetrack for coming last in the race repeatedly.
Biography
Les Moore is the owner of the No Kill Shelter and breeds greyhounds for racing. When he noticed how fast Santa's Little Helper could run to his mother, Shebiscuit, when he was a puppy, he trained him to be a racing dog. However, Santa's Little Helper always came last in the race, which led to him abandoning him on Christmas Eve out of annoyance.
Santa's Little Helper ran to Bart and Homer, where Homer lost his remaining Christmas money due to him losing. Homer originally didn't want to adopt him, but changed his mind and the dog has happily lived with The Simpsons since.
Les then reappeared years later when Santa's Little Helper returned to him due to Homer disowning him after failing to save his life. He became the mascot of Duff Bear and renamed Suds McDuff until he got replaced by a shark. Les them let The Simpsons have him again.
Sometime later, Les reappeared in "The Way of the Dog", in which Santa's Little Helper suffered from depression due to being taken away from his mother. The Simpsons confronted him and every member of the family slapped him out of disgust. Santa's Little Helper was then reunited with his mother while Les shed a tear, promptly met with more violence from Homer. The Simpsons then took Shebiscuit home.
Trivia
- He is one of the few villains in the series to be treated quite seriously, seeing as he severely abused Santa's Little Helper and all of the Simpsons were simultaneously collectively shocked by his actions, something that not even Mr. Burns and Sideshow Bob could attempt to do.
