“ | After everything we did. After everything we sacrificed. He will not be satiated. I may be the youngest of the Bishops, Little Lamb, but I am strong. And you are in my woods. I WILL DESTROY YOU! | „ |
~ Leshy to the Lamb if Heket is killed before him. |
“ | The worm, it is hungry. It feeds. It partakes of our flesh. But that is the price for safety. For that we gladly give it all we have. | „ |
~ A follower of Leshy as they prepare to sacrifice someone to him. |
“ | Winds of change blow; dost thou sense it? Around us, the world creaks and turns. Afore, it stood immobile. Motionless centuries grow rust. Now Leshy hath fallen, and hereupon the inhabitants of this land begin their fight anew to presume power. Ye shall not find them so easily dispatched again. | „ |
~ Haro to the Lamb if they return to Darkwood after Leshy has been killed. |
“ | I recall Leshy. Prior to yourself, he was the last to bargain with me. Adept as he was, he rose quickly to the challenges of Godhood, aided by his siblings. Many were drawn to his chaotic ways. | „ |
~ The Mystic Seller after the Lamb defeats Leshy a second time. |
Leshy is one of the main antagonists of the 2022 roguelike action-adventure game Cult of the Lamb. He is a Bishop of the Old Faith, the ruler of Darkwood and the Deity of Chaos.
Personality[]
Leshy is shown to be an arrogant individual, clearly thinking high of himself and his power. He also can be quite mocking.
Much like the other Bishops, he doesn't seem to care too much about his followers, being ready to have them sacrifice themselves for him and accidentally killing many others during his transformation.
He despises The One Who Waits, but seeing how he calls him "dear brother" as a follower, it's implied that he still has some care for him despite everything.
As a follower of the Lamb, Leshy still maintains some of his arrogance.
Biography[]
Sometime in the past, Leshy found his crown among camellia flowers in Darkwood. Bargaining with the Mystic Seller and helped by his siblings, he was able to become a god.
Alongside his siblings, Leshy ruled over the Lands of the Old Faith. When his brother Narinder grew ambitious and power-hungry, he and the other Bishops sealed him away, which resulted in Leshy's eyes being wounded.
When Narinder (now known as The One Who Waits) started sending vessels against them, Leshy and the others killed them one by one (except for Ratau, who was unsuccessful in his task) and killed all the lambs in the Lands to prevent a prophecy foretelling The One Who Waits' return. However, killing the last lamb has them end up directly to The One Who Waits, who revives them and grants them incredible powers.
Leshy is the first of the Bishops to discover that the Lamb's alive, and attempts to get rid of them through Amdusias, failing. After the Lamb defeats Valefar as well, Leshy warns Kallamar and Heket about the situation, with the latter ordering him to deal with the situation.
Leshy eventually decides to directly face the Lamb after he has some of his cultists sacrifice themselves to empower himself. Despite this, he loses the fight and dies.
As revealed by the Mystic Seller, however, Leshy and the other Bishops got stuck in a state where they have to relive their last moments of agony. As the Lamb ventures to allow all of them to pass on, Leshy speaks to the Lamb through a statue of himself before sending minions against them and then attempts once more to kill them himself.
Defeated, Leshy turns into a mortal and is converted to the Lamb's cult. At some point he will ask the Lamb to look for one of his eyes in Darkwood, which will allow the player to use said eye as a relic for the rest of the game.
Other Appearances[]
Leshy serves as the titular main protagonist of the animated short Leshy's Kitchen Nightmare, where he's seen cooking a steak for other two followers of the Lamb; unfortunately, Leshy gets distracted by a butterfly, causing the steak to get completely burnt. One of the two followers walks away angrily, while the other gives a sad Leshy a flower to try and cheer him up. As the second follower leaves as well, Leshy reveals a big mouth full of sharp teeth and devours the flower.
Quotes[]
“ | The heretic who lies bound below will be condemned to eternal captivity. | „ |
~ Leshy at the begging of the game as the Lamb is about to be executed. |
“ | How can this be? You were put to the blade, Lamb, as all your kind were. And yet here you stand before me, unrepentant. The Crown... his power... could it be? But I am stronger still. Turn tail and run, Little Lamb. | „ |
~ Leshy's first encounter with the Lamb. |
“ | Leshy: You have come far enough little Lamb. My Followers are willing to do anything for me. Can you say the same of yours? Amdusias: I give myself to the cause, oh Mighty Leader! Leshy: By the blood of the Great Ones, destroy the Red Crown! |
„ |
~ Leshy just before Amdusias' boss fight. |
“ | So you foolishly persist, little Lamb. I hear your lies and I smell your fear. The Red Crown rises again... but what an UNWORTHY bearer it has. | „ |
~ Leshy's second encounter with the Lamb. |
“ | Heket: So it is true. The Red Crown sits upon the brow of another. Kallamar: But how? We did everything we could to— Heket: It matters not. We need not bother Shamura with this. Deal with it, brother. Leshy: As you command, my sister. |
„ |
~ Leshy after Valefar has been defeated. |
“ | Your persistence is beginning to ANNOY me, little Lamb. You may think yourself clever. You may think yourself righteous in your service to HIM. But you should not be so trusting of the Chained One. Oh, well. It's too late for talk. One such as you deserves no absolution. This will not end well for you. | „ |
~ Leshy once the zone of his temple is reached. |
“ | I grow tired of you, little Lamb... Time to put an end to this FRIVOLOUS MASQUERADE! | „ |
~ Leshy just before his boss battle. |
“ | Little Lamb, I feel you there... Darkwood has not forgotten me yet... I can still... Find you... In my woods... | „ |
~ Leshy speaking through one of his statues in the post-game. |

“ | I... I cannot see! Where is my crown!? Lamb! Damned Lamb! I know you are there, I smell you. What... has become of us? | „ |
~ Leshy as he's recruited as a follower. |
“ | Lamb... this is not a favor. I do not need your charity! But when dear brother Narinder struck us in his fury, my eyes were torn from the socket. One was salvaged, and hidden in the tangled Darkwood. I despair at the thought of it being uncovered by some simple-minded beast. You have navigated my realm once before. Do so again, and recover my eye. Perhaps we can make an arrangement. | „ |
~ Leshy's relic quest. |
“ | You have it! I feel the presence of a relic in my flesh. Be its caretaker, for now. Something may yet be done. | „ |
~ Leshy once his quest is completed. |
“ | I know that smell. The red flowers... blooming eternally, even when I was merely a burrower. Through the dirt I would wade until one day... I found a Crown... or perhaps it found me? ...go away, Lamb! | „ |
~ Leshy if he's given a camellia flower. |

Trivia[]
- Leshy having his eyes wounded and bandaged is a reference to the phrase "See No Evil".
- Leshy is the only Bishop to not represent one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, instead being referred to as "chaos". However, it is possible however that he represents conquest (an alternate, earlier interpretation of pestilence) since he directly gives orders to one of his minions, something the other Bishops don't do.
- Leshy's name is a reference to the Eastern-European forest god of the same name.
- Leshy is the youngest Bishop.
- Leshy is a bagworm moth caterpillar.[1]
