Lesnitsky is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Pavel Morozov) of the 2013 video game Metro Last Light.

He is a Red Line agent who works as a mole within the Spartan Rangers, under General Korbut's orders, in an intent to steal a bioweapon hidden within the D6 bunker. He later proceeds to initiate the attack of a Hanza station, Oktyabrskaya, through a bioweapon, murdering many of the station's residents, which later triggers the Battle for D6. He is either spared or killed by Artyom in his last encounter.

Appearance[]

Lesnitsky is a 20-year-old male, who is seen wearing various hats in different points in the story. He wears a pilotka hat during his first encounter, a Ranger helmet during the attack of Oktybrsaya and an Ushanka during his final encounter with Artyom.

Background[]

As Ranger Mole[]

Artyom learns about Lesnitsky for the first time from Alex, a guard in D6, who queries Uhlman about what Lesnitsky did. According to a second security officer on the D6 elevator system, Lesnitsky looted the lab. General Korbut and Lesnitsky are first seen after Artyom is taken prisoner by the Red Line. Korbut is informed by Lesnitsky of Artyom's accomplishments as a Ranger and Miller's confidence in him.

Korbut[]

Miller's daughter Anna, who is also Artyom's companion, is taken prisoner and taken to Oktyabrskaya by Lesnitsky as part of a Red attack on the surface-based Ranger Church base. Lesnitsky commands the Reds as they massacre the people of Oktyabraskaya and destroy the station. Lesnitsky is holding Anna at knifepoint at the end of the station when Artyom confronts him, and he warns Artyom to take off his gas mask or he would cut Anna's neck. Either way, Lesnitsky wills Anna at Artyom after Artyom chooses to submit or respond by shooting off Lesnitsky's mask.

Later, Artyom confronts Lesnitsky on the surface, where he finally subdues him with the aid of the Baby Dark One. From this point on, Artyom can decide whether to exact revenge on Lesnitsky by killing him or to pardon him in exchange for putting him to sleep. While neither murdering Lesnitsky nor sparing him will have an immediate positive effect, killing him will result in a loss of moral points and will very surely result in the destruction of D6 in the C'est la Vie ending, whilst sparing him would help Artyom save D6 in the Redemption ending.
