~ Lester berating Ace Rothstein for not beating him up on his own.

Lester Diamond is a supporting antagonist in the 1995 crime film Casino.

He was portrayed by James Woods, who also portrayed Hades in Hercules, Ned Trent in The Specialist, Maximilian "Max" Bercovicz in Once Upon a Time in America, Martin Walker in White House Down, Falcon in Stuart Little 2, Captain Ahab in The Adventures of Moby Dick, Gloomius Maximus in Rolie Polie Olie: The Great Defender of Fun, Dr. Phillium Benedict in Recess: School's Out, Owlman in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Tom Hedden in Straw Dogs, George Sheffield in Scarface: The World is Yours, and himself in Family Guy.

Biography[]

Lester Diamond is first introduced as the low-life ex-boyfriend of local hustler Ginger McKenna, while her soon-to-be husband Ace Rothstein is narrating their first encounter; Diamond is described as a pimp who abuses drugs (including cocaine) and constantly harasses Ginger for money. Ace presumes that Ginger only affiliates with Diamond because they have know each other for a long time and Ginger probably feels very sorry for him. Soon after Ace and Ginger get married, Ginger receives a phone call from Diamond where he states that he misses her and that she must miss him as well. Ace knows that Ginger is speaking with Diamond, but he trusts her enough at that point to not make a big deal out of it.

Later in the film, Ginger asks Ace for $25,000 and refuses to explain what the money is for. Ace figures out that the money was meant for Diamond, and Ace finds Ginger and Diamond sitting together at a diner. Here Ace tells Diamond that he better stay away from Ginger, and as Diamond leaves the diner a few of Ace's men follow him to his car and beat him up; as this happens, Ginger screams at Ace in anger at the site of Diamond being beaten up - further stating that the situation was her fault and thus Diamond did not need to be beaten up. Unbeknownst to Ginger, however, Ace had requested his best-friend Nicky Santoro to arrange Diamond's beating.

When Ace and Ginger file for divorce, Ginger takes their daughter Amy to Los Angeles where they plan on flying to Europe with Diamond. Thanks in part to Diamond's abusive and disrespectful behavior, Ace manages to convince Ginger to come back to him. Diamond is not seen for the rest of the movie, though Ginger dies of an overdose.

Trivia[]
