Lethes: Stop wasting my time, you peasant! I know her body was buried here...Where is Asylla's tomb?
Guard: The Queen’s tomb...was hidden. The dead...deserve...their rest.
Lethes: Wrong answer. The dead serve me! A fact you will learn soon enough.
~ Lethes while interrogating a member of the Wortham Guard.
Lethes could have been Deathspeaker if not for her disdain of Balance. Though she proudly advocated for resilient undead nations, her necromancy was often imprecise. After she spread curses through the Necropolis, Lethes was put on trial by her mentor, Xul. She fled, abandoning her dream of a dead kingdom...until she discovered a Worldstone shard.
~ Description of Lethes in Horadric Bestiary.

Lethes is a secondary antagonist in Diablo Immortal video game. She is a rogue Necromancer and a former apprentice of Xul. After causing the plague in Necropolis, she fled and found Worldstone's shard, which she wanted to use in her plan of creating kingdom of the dead.

Biography[]

Lethes was once an apprentice of Necromancer Xul. Although she was quite powerful, her necromancy was often imprecised. Lethes's dream was creating kingdom of the dead, which she would rule. However, after spreading a plague through Necropolis, she was forced to fled. Then, she found Worldstone's shard, which could make her dream come true.

Lethes attacked old Tristam Cathedral, planning to resurrect Skeleton King and use his tainted soul to dominate the world. However, during the ritual, she was confronted by Xul. The two fought and Lethes won, but had to escape because of the Skeleton King's (another) death.

Lethes was confronted by the Shard-Seeker, with whom she clashed. Lethes lost and the Shard-Seeker collected the shard. However, Lethes managed to escape because of the simulacrum she used in the fight. Xul followed her, wanting to stop her.

Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Trivia[]

  • Lethes's name comes from Lethe, one of five rivers in Hades, called "the river of oblivion".
