Letule is the main antagonist of the 1988 NES game Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Biography[]
In the World of Demons, the red colored Letule sends hordes of evil monsters, including weaker green colored Letules, to destroy Edward Hyde. Mr. Hyde is forced to defend himself from the demons and relieve his stress to turn back into Dr. Jekyll. If Hyde gets farther along than Jekyll, the "powers that be" (implied to be God and other divine forces) will strike him down with lightning, killing him.
Toward the end of the game, once Jekyll makes it to the final area before the church, transforming into Hyde will allow Hyde to take to the rooftops, bypassing Jekyll without actually reaching the spot where Jekyll transformed. This allows Hyde to reach the church, where the red Letule attacks him. After Hyde defeats it, the Letule is destroyed.
Trivia[]
- The boss is actually a stronger version of a common enemy found in Hyde's sections of the game, though in those sections, this enemy is green instead of red.
- The boss fight with the red Letule is one of the only genuinely well liked aspects of the game, as it is relatively easy unless Hyde is low on health, and defeating it gives the player the better ending and eliminates all the enemies and obstacles from the last section of Jekyll's portion. Many players choose to pursue it in favor of getting through Jekyll's last level normally.
