Levi Baskerville is the overarching antagonist of Pandora Hearts. He is the ominous and mysterious predecessor of Oswald Baskerville and the charismatic true head of the Baskerville family who experimented on his own daughter Lacie into a cruel experiment by knowing that she is a "Child of III Omen" and destined to be cast into the Abyss so he could use her children to see if he can control the Abyss, leading to two girls that would one day become Alice and the Intention of the Abyss. Him informing Jack Vessalius of the true nature of the Abyss makes him responsible for him orchestrating the mass murder of the entire capital city and sending it into the Abyss.
Personality[]
Despite his charming and knowledgeable nature, Levi is a heartless and manipulative individual who is driven by his primary motive of finding amusement, showing himself a master of manipulation when he earns the trust and emotions of others so he could use them for his experiments and only use it to lift his boredom and seeing others suffering as a joke compared to his own goals, prioritizing his own dark and sadistic amusement over all moral and ethical considerations for his own selfish and callous personal gain.
Biography[]
Before the Tragedy of Sabiler, Levi was the former leader of the Baskervilles, he held control over the entire Baskerville Clan and all of its estate up until Oswald succeeded him and took up the Glen title and like all of his family members, he was born human and he had a possible III Omened counterpart encountered the Droplets of Golden Light and traveled to Sabiler. He was determined to be an incarnation of Glen Baskerville by the Glen presiding at the time, and eventually made to execute his Ill Omened counterpart and take the role of Glen himself. Eventually, he would meet Oswald and his own Ill Omened younger sister Lacie, when the two were still small children. As Oswald was found to be the next incarnation of Glen Baskerville, Levi raised Oswald and his sister personally. Though it was not standard practice, Levi told Lacie of the reason for her impending demise when she was very young. Immedietaly after informing Lacie of her fate, Levi revealed his idea of impregnating her as part of an "experiment" he thought up.
Levi's plan would eventually lead to the birth of Alice and the Intention of the Abyss, Levi and Lacie's twin daughters. While the former girl was found by him and Oswald at the Door to the Abyss following Lacie's death, the latter girl stayed within the depths of the Abyss, the two communing through the link in their souls. After Oswald's succession, Levi's body began to break down and slowly, painfully morph into a Chain. Before he succumbed to this fate, he privately met with Jack Vessalius, a friend of Oswald's with a persistant fixation on Lacie. Levi told him in detail of everything to do with the Abyss and the circumstances of Lacie's death. He advised Jack to do whatever he wished with the information given, then left, never to be seen again. His body would soon fade away and he bore witness to the Tragedy that followed from within the collective consciousness of Glen, showing complete satisfaction at what he had done and feeling no remorse for his crimes whatsoever.
