~ Lewis Dodgson before shocking a poor Triceratops. |
Lewis Dodgson is the secondary antagonist of the 2010 non-canon Jurassic Park: Redemption comic book series, which serves as an alternate sequel to the original Jurassic Park film trilogy.
He is the right-hand man of Peter Ludlow who joins him in his plan to release the dinosaurs onto the mainland to claim as many victims as possible.
History[]
While the story doesn't explore too much Lewis Dodgson's background, given how the comic series was intended to be a sequel to the first three films, it's implied that Dodgson did the same things he did in the first Jurassic Park film: as an employee of Biosyn, bribed Dennis Nedry to steal fifteen embryos from John Hammond's planned Jurassic Park dinosaur-themed park, but such sabotage led to the deaths of Nedry and many others, forcing Hammond to give up his dream, but leaving Dodgson with no embryos to deliver to his superiors.
Lewis Dodgson is first introduced feeding a pack of Triceratops alongside his men. When it’s time for them to stop eating, he hits the one he considers a “freak” so it would stop. Once the dinosaur responds by launching him into the air, he uses a stun gun to shock it as revenge. Later on, he appears once a farmer is being interrogated after he got attacked by a dinosaur and one of his animals was killed and partially eaten. Once he returns, he’s accidentally stepped on by a Triceratops, the same one that he shocked earlier, and shocks her for a second time.
After a few minor scenes of him feeding dinosaurs, Dodgson is arguing with a co-worker, Backer, about the Carnotaurus that managed to escape and started killing both animals and their co-workers. Once Backer leaves to find the Carnotaurus, Dodgson is left alone with Henry Wu. After a bit of arguing, Dodgson releases a Gracilisuchus, who proceeds to kill and devour Wu, leaving only an arm behind. Once Backer finds out, he confronts Dodgson about it, who lies by saying he has no idea how the thing got out.
During a meeting between him, Backer, and Mr. Would, the latter orders him to "show" Backer who's really running the operation, and Dodgson responds by shocking the man and knocking him out. His body is then taken to the Mussaurus paddock, where he will have enough time to recover given their harmless nature.
Later on, Dodgson leads a group of dinosaurs alongside his men. That is until a car spooks them, and they all break loose and escape. As he goes to confront Tim Murphy and Mr. Would, it turns out the latter is none other than Peter Ludlow. Having survived being mauled by a baby T. rex twelve years ago, the two teamed up and hatched a plan; They would create a Jurassic Park on the mainland, only to let all the dinosaurs break loose and slaughter countless; Ludlow did it for revenge so he could ruin Hammond’s legacy, while Dodgson's motives are unknown. During their conversation, Ludlow orders Dodgson to open all the paddock doors, and he does as he’s told. He then leaves the building off-screen, and the last time we see him, he’s “near the park”, begging a jeep to come back for him. As he realizes he’s been abandoned, Dodgson wonders what he’s going to do now, but is interrupted by the same Triceratops he abused impaling him on her horns. A man who is heavily implied to be Dodgson is banging on a door, begging for help. Backer hears this and refuses to save him, telling the man to say hello to Dr. Wu and that he’ll see both of them soon, as all of them are going to Hell following this.

Trivia[]
- Lewis Dodgson's connections to Biosyn aren't mentioned throughout the comic, although they most likely exist given how the comic treats the first three Jurassic Park films as canon.
- Since the release of Jurassic World, however, the events of Jurassic Park: Redemption are retconned as taking place in an alternate continuity, as Dr. Henry Wu appeared in that film and its sequels alive and well, with Dodgson even returning in the last film Jurassic World: Dominion, albeit with a different appearance just like in the comic.
- Dodgson's motives for helping Peter Ludlow remain unknown. However, it can be theorized that maybe Dodgson got into trouble with his superiors after failing to deliver the embryos due to Dennis Nedry's death, so he may have joined forces with Ludlow to get back at the Hammond family for preventing him from succeeding with his task.
- His first name, Lewis, is never spoken within the comic, and he's referred to as strictly "Mr. Dodgson" or simply "Dodgson". Similarly, Dodgson is depicted here with red hair, whereas he had blonde hair in the first film.
- However, a possibility could be that Dodgson dyed his hair after the events of the first film or that this was an artistic choice of Nate Van Dyke.
