Lex Luthor is the main antagonist of the Elseworld story Elseworld's Finest: Supergirl & Batgirl, he is the one responsible for killing Kal-El as a child.

Biography[]

Lex Luthor, in this comic, is a villain with good publicity. He found Kal-El's spaceship and killed him while he was a baby, than took his corpse and preserved it, using it as an energy source for his lab to help him revolutionize Metropolis, all for glory of course.

When his partner, professor Hamilton, felt remorse for his part in helping Lex use the corpse as an energy source and tried to reveal the truth, Lex discredited him and ruined his life. The details are not elaborated on, but Hamilton ended up a broken man with no friends or family (when he gets his "one phone call" at the end of the story, he reveals he has nobody to call, showing that he lost everything and has no one left who cares about him).

It's also revealed that for unknown reasons, he hired Joe Chill to assassinate the Wayne family. The young Bruce and his parents were only saved by the intervention of a young Jim Gordon and his wife, who Joe killed instead when they saw him preparing to kill the Waynes on the streets. The young Barbra, only a child, was traumatized by the murder of her parents, and picked up her father's gun to force Joe Chill to surrender to the police. She was adopted by the Waynes and ended up becoming Batgirl, while Bruce acted in a role similar to Alfred for her.

Years later, Lex conspires with Joker to take care of Batgirl and Supergirl. Joker in this version has a villainous crush on Batgirl and is using Kryptonite steroids to obtain a huge physique to show off to her, and Lex agrees to help him get Batgirl's attention if he helps him by using his Kryptonite enhanced body to beat Supergirl to death.

When Batgirl and Supergirl reach them, Lex has Joker beat Supergirl to within an inch of her life, while Lex taunts her about having killed her infant cousin she never met, saying that he didn't murder anyone because aliens don't have rights and are worthless beings. Batgirl however, manages to distract Joker long enough for Supergirl to deck him in the face. Lex taunts the two heroes by saying that nobody will ever believe them. Batgirl however, reveals she recorded his confession to killing baby Kal-El, and while the legalities he mentioned and his wealth and status will keep him out of prison, his public image has been destroyed. The two heroes vow that one day, he will be brought to justice.
