Liam Crandle is a minor antagonist in season 3 of the TV series Batwoman; appearing as the main antagonist of "Mad as a Hatter".
He is a troubled young man and an obsessed fan of Alice who becomes the second Mad Hatter after purchasing his mind controlling hat online from two boys who found it on the shores of Gotham River.
Doctors are all the same. They think they're gods amongst men. Why should I be institutionalized? Because you think I'm crazy? Because I see the world a little differently than you? Sorry for being my own person!

Liam is a mentally unstable individual who enjoys making other people hurt each other and themselves. He is fixated on Alice, whom he sees as a victim of society like himself which drove him to commit horrendous acts of violence in her name. He also displayed great animosity to the Gotham medical community for labeling him as a psychopath.
History[]
Liam Crandle became an obsessed fan of Alice sometime after the truth about her identity had been exposed to the public; believing her to be a victim. Following Alice's incarceration to Arkham Asylum; Liam acquired a top-hat that previously belonged to Batman rogue Jervis Tetch and assumed the Mad Hatter mantle. He then went to the Gotham sewers, where he was intimidated by two men, but he controlled the mind of one with the hat and made him slash the other person's throat, while recording the entire ordeal.
Mad Hatter decides to deal a huge blow to the medical community by hijacking Mary Hamilton's medical school graduation to protest Alice's fate and the inequity of Gotham's healthcare system. He uses his hat to take control of every mind in the audience and forces them to watch an enslaved Mary remove each one of Dr. Halls organs. When Alice shows up to meet him, Mad Hatter was persuaded to release everyone from the hat's mind-control before being non-fatally stabbed by her. Crandle then falls to the floor and is presumably sent to Arkham.

Trivia[]
Liam is the first of several individuals in season 3 to assume the identity of one of Batman's old enemies. The second was Steven who becomes the new Killer Croc, the third was Mary Hamilton who becomes the new Poison Ivy and the last was Marquis Jet who becomes the new Joker.
Liam had filmed himself throwing a kitten off a rooftop which received 5,070 views. This could be one of the reasons why Alice stabbed him as she use to have a pet cat as a child while being held captive by August Cartwright and watched him kill it.
