I'll be back for the rest. Mr. Nero won't be happy.
~ Flynn to the cafe owner he had been racketeering.

Liam Flynn is a minor antagonist in Endeavour, appearing only in "Cartouche", the second episode of Series 5. He was an importrant minion and enforcer of Eddie Nero, who was in charge of blackmail and protection racketeery against store and cafe owners that are immigrants in Oxford. However, he was later stabbed to death by someone else.

He was portrayed by Alister Hawke.

Biography[]

At the start of the episode, Flynn could be seen entering Pop Gallo's cafe, demanding money to be paid for Nero's racketeery business. Being afraid of Nero, Gallo had to obey and gave all he had, saying he would pay for the rest by next week.

Hearing this, Flynn only replied he would be back for the rest and said Nero won't be happy with it, before he flirt with Gallo's daughter, Guilia (who was the waitress of the cafe and was taking orders from Leslie Garnier at table four), much to her discomfort and Garnier's disgust.

During Morse's investigation upon Garnier's death, he arrived in Gallo's cafe and asked whether he saw someone like Leslie Garnier had appeared in their property. Gallo lied to Morse in order to conceal the fact he was blackmailed by Nero. At the same night, Flynn returned to the cafe and get paid for the rest.

Nevertheless, not long after he left, he suddenly returned and had a serious stab wound on his body, much to the Gallos' horror, before he collapsed on the ground and died right in front of them. It was later revealed that Flynn was killed by Cromwell Ames, as a signal to challenge Nero's control over Thames Valley's criminal ring.
