Liam Tyler is a fictional character and major antagonist of the British soap opera EastEnders.

In his characterisation, he was the abusive husband of Debbie Bates.

He was portrayed by Francis Magee who also portrayed Magnus in Into the Badlands.

Biography

Past

Liam was Debbie's first husband and father of Clare Bates. He was very abusive towards his family and at one point they got estranged.

EastEnders

Liam first appeared looking for Debbie, having tracked her down but Debbie doesn't want to go back to him.

Liam later appeared again, harassing Nigel Bates, Debbie's new love interest. When Debbie and Nigel announce that they are engaged, Liam turns up before the wedding but is kidnapped by Phil and Grant Mitchell who later releases him after the wedding and threatens him to make him leave.

Liam once again reappears after he learns of Debbie's death and tries to win Clare over. A cort case ensues which Nigel wins and Liam, admitting defeat, leaves again, this time for good.
