Lieutenant Jee is a supporting antagonist and a neutral character of the Netflix original TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender, based on the original animated series with the same name.
Similarly to his original animated counterpart, he was the one of the senior officers aboard Zuko's ship and lieutenant of the 41st Legion. While not truly evil, Jee was still an antagonist, because while it was his duty to serve Prince Zuko and enforce his orders without questioning and hesitation, but he still supported the tyrannical laws of the Fire Nation. Jee serves as the neutral and forced antagonist of the series by proxy, because in reality he wasn't truly evil, but just a soldier, who had no choice except obeying his masters.
Lieutenant Jee was portrayed by Ruy Iskandar.
Biography[]
Past[]
Little is known about this version of Jee. He was already the soldier of the Fire Nation and at some point, he was tasked to join Zuko's crew and help the Prince capture the Avatar and bring him to the Fire Nation in order to ensure the victory of the Nation in the war and its world domination.
The Last Airbender[]
Jee appeared frequently throughout the first season of the series. He was appointed as one of the senior commanders of Zuko's crew and was tasked to serve the exiled prince in his quest to restore his honor before his father Ozai by capturing the avatar and bringing the master of all four elements to the Fire Nation in order to ensure that the Nation would emerge victorious in the great hundred year war. Jee, together Zuko's uncle Iroh, helped Zuko and often gave advises to the young prince in his plans of stalking and pursuing Aang and his friends. Jee often splitted in debate of loyalty whom he was forced to serve and remain loyal. Either tragic Zuko, who, while arrogant and selfish, but tragic and insecure, or ruthless and treacherous Admiral Zhao, who plotted the total genocide of the waterbenders by using highly dishonest and dishonorable tactics.
Jee was present at most of Zuko's speeches before his officers and while he sometimes gave Zuko advices about his mistakes in leadership and command over his subordinates, but Jee still remained loyal to the prince and never argued and contradicted his master. Often, Jee was insulted by Zuko, who couldn't control his emotions and was angry that Jee puts his authority under the debate. Something which Jee was often insecure about. Jee was present when Zuko was nearly killed by Zhao, who placed the explosive dynamite on Zuko's boat in the futile attempt to kill the prince, who was his rival in capturing Aang. However, when Zuko survived, Iroh ordered Jee to help his nephew with recovering from the wounds of the explosion. Jee was last seen at the Siege of the Northern Water Tribe, where he helped Zhao siege the government. However, Jee's fate remains unknown, but he seemingly perished after the defeat of the Fire Nation. With that said, General Iroh believes that Jee and his crew have escaped the battle and are still alive.
