Lieutenant Orso (simply known as Orso) is a supporting antagonist of the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace. He is a renegade Bolivian lieutenant serving as the right-hand man of the notorious general Luiz Medrano.
He was portrayed by Jesús Ochoa.
Orso was first seen in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where Medrano met with Dominic Greene of Quantum. As it turns out, Medrano has entered a deal in overthrowing the Bolivian government by receiving funds and weaponry from Greene, and in return, he would let Quantum receive a portion of the land for its natural resources. Following the capture of Bolivian agent Camille Montes (as her family was killed by Medrano), Orso was told to take her hostage, but James Bond arrived and rescued Montes, much to Orso's dismay.
Orso was later seen when Medrano meets Colonel Carlos in the Eco Hotel of the Atacama Desert to finalize the coup. Following Greene's arrival, Orso watches as Medrano signs the paperwork, but is suprised to see that Greene has presented a new contract that will allow Quantum to use Bolivia's sole water utility company to sell at higher rates. At first, Medrano refuses to sign it, but Greene silently threatens to have him replaced if he doesn't comply, daring Medrano to have Orso shoot him if he wishes to. This prompted a frustrated Orso to reach for his sidearm, but Medrano reluctantly gives in by signing the contract, prompting Orso to stand down.
Orso is satisfied that he and the rest of Medrano's soldiers finally got their funds and weapons to finalize their coup, but Medrano is very upset by this turn of events. Orso and a soldier were later tasked to stand guard of the suite, where Medrano attempts to rape his maid out of frustration.
However, the arrival of Bond and Montes caused the hotel to explode, killing all of Greene's thugs and Medrano's men. As Bond deals with Greene, Montes manages to shoot down both Orso and the soldier in the chest. Though Orso survived the shot, he is knocked down from the railing by Montes, leaving him to fall to his death below. This allowed Montes to finally confront Medrano and shoot him down while letting the maid escape.
Bond eventually learned that Quantum was nothing more than a front run by Ernst Stavro Blofeld of SPECTRE, and that Orso, along with Greene and Medrano, were all pawns as part of Blofeld's true plot to wreak psychological pain on Bond.
