Lightning Bolt Society are recurring antagonists in the Sonic Boom TV series. They are a secret group of Hedgehog Village crooks who had banded together in an attempt to become more threatening.

History

The Lightning Bolt Society was founded by a number of inept villains, including Dave the Intern.

Sonic Boom

• In "How to Succeed in Evil Without Really Trying", the Lightning Bolt Society members see Tails destroy Sticks' orchard by accident, and mistake it for a genuine act of malice. They meet up with the fox and invite him to join their society, with Tails, oblivious to the group's nature, accepting, after which Dave reseeds the orchard with mutant seeds, which grow into carnivorous plants the heroes have to deal with later. During the group's subsequent meeting, Sonic and Amy try to break in to get Tails back, while Eggman attempts to get back at them for stealing from his garbage bin. On Eggman's orders, the Lightning Bolts fight the heroes but fail, after which they attempt to get autographs from the evil scientist.
• In "Eggman Unplugged", after Eggman abandons all technology, the Lightning Bolts seize it and the doctor's lair for themselves and cause mayhem across the island until Sonic and Eggman put a stop to it.
• In "Just a Guy", after Sonic quits heroing due to public pressure and Team Sonic leaves town, the Lightning Bolts once again take advantage of the situation to harass villagers, with Sonic coming back to stop them.
• In "Next Top Villain", Dave distances himself from his teammates, due to his mother believing they aren't a bad enough influence on him.
• In "It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog", the Lightning Bolt Society joins Dr. Eggman's alliance in an attempt to defeat Team Sonic for good, but this attempt fails.

Overview

Lightning Bolt Society is a group of largely incompetent evil-doers, who don't deny said fact, but still hope to become somewhat better at villainy with their combined efforts. Despite this, their goals remain rather miniscule threat level-wise, from controlling all the fruit to causing mayhem around the island. Pretty much nobody takes them seriously, to the point where Dave's mother believes his allies aren't a bad enough influence on him.

The organization appears to use the image of a red lightning bolt as its symbol, and its members wear purple cloaks and red fezes as uniform.
