Do it, or I'll kill you.. you useless idiot!
~ Lily threatens her husband Sofus and her final words before accidentally killing herself.

Lily Mahkent is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Eclipso) of the DC TV series Stargirl.

Lily was a Norwegian immigrant who came to the United States with her husband Sofus and their son Jordan to escape the persecution that those with ability to generate and control ice like herself had been subjected to for centuries. She supported her son's mad ambition of ridding the world of injustice without question, even if it meant murdering anyone that got in the way. After Jordan is apparently killed by the JSA, she and Zofus become the legal guardians of their grandson Cameron and teach him how to control his cryokinesis.

She was portrayed by Kay Galvin.

Overview[]

Lily was born in Norway and spent most of her life running and hiding from those who wanted to persecute herself and her family for their gifts. She watched loved ones burn at the stake like witches, and escaped the old country along with her husband Sofus, so that their son would have a better life. She sought out only the best for him, and instilled values such as family, loyalty, strength, and a ruthless characteristic that would carry through in everything Jordan did. When her daughter in law Christine dies of a terminal illness, Lily encourages her son to continue his work with the Injustice Society of America, as she believed that Jordan was going to help people and achieve a "better America" for his son Cameron through Project New America, in spite of the millions that would die in the process.

Lily accidentally kills herself by causing a scaffold to come loose and gets crushed by a car.

Personality[]

Lily was a cruel, cold hearted woman who killed those perceived as a threat to her family and personal agenda like Cameron's art teacher Mr. Deisinger, even though he simply wanted to help her grandson pursue his passion for painting. She also appeared unfazed when she witnessed her son murder William Zarick, and covered up the incident without thinking twice. Despite her callous nature, Lily loved her family more than anything in the world especially her son, Jordan and was devastated when she thought she had lost him. Her grief is what drove her to hate Courtney Whitmore, her friends and family and exact vengeance against her son's alleged killers, despite Sofus' modest protests. In the end Lily's selfish, egotistical, and disillusioned view of the world led to her own accidental demise.

Powers and abilities[]

Like her husband, son, and grandson, Lily was born with the power to create ice blasts from her hands strong enough to freeze objects and people shattering them like glass. While Jordan was able to transform his entire body into ice only Lily's eyes turn into ice when using her powers. She was also incredibly durable and resistant for a woman her age as she was able to hold her own against Wildcat when the latter attacked her in her home and sustain minimal damage.

Trivia[]

  • Lily's death is similar to the way her son was killed in the first season finale.
