~ Guihua approaching Yamamoto Yueniang when she was praying her parents’ death anniversary |
Lin Guihua (林桂花 in Chinese) is the main antagonist of The Little Nyonya. She is the head of the Huang Family and strongly despises Huang Juxiang and Yamamoto Yueniang. She is Wang Tianlan's sister-in-law, Huang Jincheng and Huang Meiyu's biological mother, Huang Juxiang's grand aunt, Xiu Feng's mother-in-law, Yamamoto Yueniang's grandaunt as well as Huang Tianbao and Huang Zhenzhu's grandmother. She is known to be the Lady Tremaine of the series. She is played by Lin Meijiao in the original series and is played by Yue Lina in the remake.
Personality[]
Lin Guihua is the head of the Huang family. She tries to manipulate the other family members in believing that Huang Juxiang is a jinx due to her being deaf and mute along with her mother Wang Tianlan and her daughter Yamamoto Yueniang. With that, all three women are forced into working as servants, despite being descendants of the Huang family.
The Little Nyonya[]
Lin Guihua is known to be the main antagonist of the series. She made numerous attempts to scapegoat Huang Juxiang for the misfortunes of the Huang family. When Charlie Zhang notices Juxiang during a Tok Panjang Gathering, Guihua immediately arranges her to marry him, against Juxiang's will. When Juxiang escapes Charlie, Guihua accuses her of ruining the relationship between the Zhangs and the Huangs. She disallowed any family members or servants to talk about or meet Juxiang. Therefore when her servant Ah Tao defied it, she took an axe and broke her leg. Along with the Huang family, Lin Guihua managed to escape World War II by boarding a ship to the UK. However, when Chen Sheng smuggled Huang Juxiang and Yamamoto Yueniang into the ship, Lin Guihua caught a glimpse of them and tried to kill them both by throwing them off the ship.
After their return to Malacca after the war, Lin Guihua decides to keep Yueniang in and told the whole family to treat her as a servant who should not be paid. Throughout Yueniang's time with the Huangs, Lin Guihua constantly insults Huang Juxiang in front of Yueniang and told all family members to call Yueniang by her first name, a sign of rudeness in Peranakan and Chinese culture. When Yueniang was pushed into a well by Huang Zhenzhu and was saved by Chen Xi, Guihua instructed for the unconscious Yueniang to be kept at a warehouse to her death. Although her attempt did not succeed, Guihua tried to manipulate Yueniang's thought by telling her Yueniang wanted to commit suicide. Lin Guihua was also wary about Chen Xi liking Yueniang and tried to separate the two at all cost. She had even forced Yueniang into marrying Liu Yidao, who was seen as a hooligan. In doing so she locked Yueniang in the servants room until the wedding day. Yuzhu managed to save Yueniang and asked her to escape, then after she was raped. When Yuzhu was raped by Robert Zhang, Guihua did not hesitate and asked her male servants to rape Yueniang. Finally when Huang Tianbao killed Chen Sheng and was jailed, she tried to burn Yueniang, but failed to do so after suffering from a stroke. From then on, the fortunes of the Huang family has been diminished as they had to sell their ancestral home. Ironically by the end of the series, it was bought back by Yueniang and Guihua was able to move back in.
2020 Remake[]
In the Chinese remake, Guihua also had shown no remorse towards Juxiang and Yueniang in very similar ways. However, by the end of the series, Guihua looked more regretful towards her action towards Yueniang and Juxiang as she was seen smiling at a reunited Chen Xi and Yamamoto Yueniang.
