Villainess Overview

I don't think I'm very happy. I always fall asleep to the sounds of my own screams. And then I always get woken up in the morning by the sounds of my own screams. Do you think I'm unhappy?
~ Butters talking about his parents.
Butters can't come out and play, boys! He thinks it is funny to look like a jackass in his school picture that I had to pay for!
~ Linda to the South Park boys while reasoning that Butters is grounded
What fibs have you been telling us this policeman, Butters?! You know damn well, you didn't toilet paper that house!
~ Linda to Butters when seeing him into jail again.

Linda Stotch also known as Mrs. Stotch, is a supporting antagonist in the animated sitcom South Park. She is one of both Butters' abusive, hot-tempered, controlling, toxic, abusive, and strict parents and she is also the oppressive and tyrannical matriach of the Stotch Family.

She frequently grounds her son for little to no reason, try to sell him to Paris Hilton for $250 million, give him a brutal beating for cussing them out over the phone (it was actually Cartman pretending to be Butters), locked him in the basement, try to feed him a dead woman's body and tried to drown him. She is one of both Butters' arch-nemesis, the other being Stephen.

She is the sister of Nellie Stotch and was voiced by Mona Marshall, who also voiced Sheila Broflovski in the same series.

Biography[]

Linda tends to be more sympathetic and tender towards her son but goes along with her husband's parenting methods because she feels he knows more about it than she does. While she is a lot nicer to Butters than Stephen, and hugs and kisses him a lot, but like his father she has punished him and abused him absurdly before. She and Stephen has remorse for their actions when they made mistakes for what happen to Butters such as when her son was hospitalized due to him being severely injured by Trent Boyett.

She is good friends with the mothers of the South Park boys such as Sharon Marsh, Sheila Broflovski, Carol McCormick and Liane Cartman.

Linda grounded Butters for looking stupid in his school picture day. She doesn't let Butters go with the boys (who are going to see the ass people at Kenny's house) when she says that Butters thinks it is funny to "look like a jackass" for his school picture that she has to pay for it.

Appearance[]

Linda is a woman with a blonde hair. She wore a red shirt and purple hoop skirt.

Villainous Acts[]

  • In "Proper Condom Use", Linda and Stephen attended a parents meeting with the Marsh family. She and the other parents witnessed Stan beating off a dog causing Randy and Sharon to ground Stan for 10 months (even worse than they've ground Butters).
  • In “Butter’s Very Own Episode”, she tried to kill her own son Butters by drowning him upon going insane after finding out Stephen was a homosexual and wanting to prevent Butters from being raised by a “sick pervert”.
  • In "Fun With Veal", Linda and the other parents grounding the South Park Boys for stealing baby calves and defying them although they've learned their lesson, but they still defied their parents and need to learn that terrorism is never the answer.
  • In "Going Native", Linda and her husband, Stephen were called by Principal Victoria for Butters' misbehavior against his friends and teachers even when Butters beats up Scott Malkinson (a kid who has a lisp and diabetes). Linda asking Butters if that behavior of his is fair to his teachers and classmates, although he didnt' think it is, he doesn't care. When Stephen was about to ground Butters for his behavior, Butters, however defied his parents.
  • In "Child Abduction Is Not Funny", Linda witnessed Tweek was abducted. She and Stephen worrying that Butters would get abducted. So they bought a Child Tracker to force Butters to wear it like the other kids and later goes with him to school (which is worse than child tracker described by Stan Marsh). Linda and Stephen argued with the Tweaks when they always has been the "shifty-eyed ones".

Trivia[]

  • Despite her villainous nature, the fact that Linda is illegally grounding Butters for no reason, if there would be a potential episode showing the origin of her true nature how she did to abuse for the first time since Butters was born. Which makes her one of the worst parents in the South Park franchise alongside Stephen Stotch, but also one of the worst parents in the history of animation ever hated.
    • However, when Butters became an adult in the episode "Post COVID: The Return of COVID", it is unclear what fate befell Linda Stotch as a defeat since her son became an adult. If there is a potential episode of South Park where Butters must kill his parents out of revenge and to have a kind adult life in order to get rid of his family for abusing him for no reason, her parental neglect of her son will pay with her life alongside her husband.
    • However, the method of Linda wrongfully grounding Butters (even though his son did nothing wrong) for no reason is not only considered child abuse, but also child neglect.
  • Although the animated series South Park is aimed at adults and is known for its dark and crude humor, Linda and Stephen Stotch are known by viewers as the worst parents in the history of American animation.
  • However, her name can be easily confused with Linda Black, Tolkien Black's mother and Steve Black's wife who serves as a supporting protagonist of the South Park franchise.
    • However, Linda Black's nature could be Linda Stotch's heroic opposite. Linda Stotch is a worst mother with strict, stern, abusive, hated, oppressive and harsh behavior, while Linda Black is a best mother with gentle, kind, forgiving, lax and easy behavior.
  • At the same time as the reviews of South Park parents who are known to be stupid, arrogant or anti-heroic such as Sheila Broflovski or Mr. Gueermo, Linda and Stephen Stotch are considered the most hated parents from the South Park franchise, although they have done more harm to Butters than even the Stotch Family upbringing is the worst family upbringing any child has ever endured, in terms of the worst examples that Stephen and Linda their actions and sins they have done to Butters that even Kyle is aware of Butters' innocence and that Clyde must get rid of the Stotch Family that they are not the ones who make the law of education on their children like Butters. If Stephen and Linda Stotch experience a potential fate similar to Jack Tenorman and Mrs. Tenorman seen in the episode "Scott Tenorman Must Die", except that Jack Tenorman and Mrs. Tenorman experience a tragic death and Tenorman and Mrs. Tenorman goes to Heaven after their deaths to make Scott Tenorman cry, while Stephen and Linda Stotch experience a well-deserved death and Stephen and Linda Stotch goes to Hell to make Butters feel better.
    • However, although the New Kid is the only child from the South Park franchise to defeat Stephen Stotch in the video game South Park: The Fractured but Whole to relieve Butters, Linda Stotch herself never appeared in the video games.
  • In a deleted scene, Stephen and Linda are shown in "Simpsons Already Did It" as both Principal Skinner and Edna Krabapell.
  • However, having authoritarian parents like Stephen and Linda Stotch can have dysfunctional and conflicting consequences on families, so some sweet and innocent children like Butters can become victims of authoritarian parenting. Authoritarian parents are one of the worst types of parents that no family should have. Otherwise, it would be a hellish nightmare for the children.
  • Despite being one of the worst parents of South Park alongside Stephen Stotch, Linda Stotch committed the Seven Deadly Sins.
    • Pride : Just like the stereotypes of authoritarian parents, Linda Stotch imposes herself in a strict manner on her son believing she is the strongest and her parental severity is the fruit of her pride.
    • Wrath : She spends his time to ground Butters for no reason, even though her son has done nothing wrong.
    • Gluttony : In "Marjorine", she forced Butters to eat a corpse since her husband dug it up.
    • Greed : In "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset", she is manipulated by Paris Hilton alongside Stephen Stotch to an attempt to bought Butters at an exaggerated price of $250 million, which risks impoverishing the family.
    • Lust : In "Informative Murder Porn", he participated with the other parents in watching forbidden programs containing reenactments of violent murders between spouses, often due to adultery.
    • Envy : In "Butters Very Own Episode", she appears guilty of her act that she did on Butters so that he commits suicide by drowning him with her car, which triggers an argument between her and her husband out of deranged madness. While Eric Cartman is responsible for his troubles that he caused on Butters, even if "Jared as Aides", "The Death of Eric Cartman" and "Cartman Sucks" are some of the worst examples that Cartman did to Butters. In "Fun with Veal", Stephen manipulate by envy the other family grounded their sons (Butters, Cartman, Stan and Kyle) for stealing baby calves and defying their parents. Despite they learned their lessons, they also need to learn that terrorism is never the answer.
    • Sloth : In "Pre-School", he leaves Butters alone and out of the locked house in order to be bullied by Trent Boyett.
