Lindsey Wofford is a minor antagonist in Red Dead Redemption II, serving as one of the overarching antagonists of chapter 3. He is the leader of the Lemoyne Raiders, a Neo-Confederate militia that acts as an antagonistic force to the Van der Linde gang throughout the game.
He is voiced by Andrew Rothenberg.
Biography[]
Wofford is an ex-soldier who fought for the Confederates during the American Civil War. Following the end of the war, Wofford and other bitter ex-Confederates formed the Lemoyne Raiders, a deeply racist and anti-government militia group which carries out attacks against the government with the intention of restoring the Confederacy and avenging itself on the North. The Raiders carry out numerous robberies and murders against Northerners, government employees and Southern citizens alike and are involved in numerous rackets, from selling guns to foreign governments to selling bootleg moonshine in Rhodes with the backing of the Braithwaite Family. The Raiders serve as the main antagonists of several missions as they come into conflict with the Van der Linde gang, although Wofford does not appear.
Wofford is wanted dead or alive with a $100 bounty on his head in the city of Saint Denis for un-American activities, murder and adultery. The player (Arthur Morgan/John Marston) can accept this bounty and hunt down Wofford, who is hiding out at Ford Brennand with several other Lemoyne Raiders. Upon arriving, the player announces that they have a warrant for Wofford's arrest and orders him to surrender. In response, Wofford and his men open fire on the player. In the ensuing shootout the player kills all of Wofford's men and has the option of killing Wofford and bringing his corpse back to Saint Denis or hogtying him and bringing him in alive.
If Wofford is killed, police chief Benjamin Lambert orders the player to dump his body behind the police station. If he is brought in alive, he is placed in a holding cell and is publicly hanged in Saint Denis a few days later.
Completing Wofford's mission will antagonize the Lemoyne Raiders, who will attack the player more frequently while in any part of Lemoyne other than Rhodes, Saint Denis or the Van der Linde campsite
.
An interesting fact: judging by the way of he commands (leading a huge band of ex-Confederates), vengeance of his men to the hero after his capture and targeting the gamer and including the way he looks (wearing moustache and a goatee beard) he can be counted not as an ordinary ex-Confederate soldier but possibly an ex-Confederate officer, at least a junior one (judging by how he coordinates people and the wearing the haircut which was similar among the Confederate officers like Nathaniel Forrest and George Edward Pickett).
