~ Paulie Germani after mocking Eugene Pontecorvo.

"Little" Paulie Germani is a supporting character in the HBO Television Series The Sopranos.

He is the protégé and nephew of DiMeo Crime Family caporegime, Paulie "Paulie Walnuts" Gualtieri and a made man in the Soprano Crew, being most frequently seen hanging out with the members of the Moltisanti Crew.

He was portrayed by Carl Capotorto.

Biography[]

Background[]

Paul Germani was born on January 19, 1960 to Rose Gualtieri and a Mr. Germani. Due to him being the nephew (later revealed to be the first cousin once-removed) of Peter Paul "Paulie" Gualtieri, a Capo in the New Jersey DiMeo Crime Family, Paulie grew up with the Italian and Mafia traditions and was also nicknamed "Little Paulie" to not get him confused with his infamous uncle. He became a soldier in the DiMeo Family in 2002.

Season 4[]

Little Paulie is tasked by Tony Soprano to vandalize a restaurant owned by Carmine Lupertazzi, which happened after a dispute started between the two Mafia bosses. Afterwards, Paulie is later ordered by Tony to intimidate Alan Sapinsly after he dismissed a property deal between them, which caused Paulie and his close friend, Benny Fazio to use some of Tony's speakers from his house and put them on a boat and blast Dean Martin songs outside of Sapinsly's home. A running gag of his character also begins during this season, in the episode "Christopher" in which Paulie is hit on the head randomly with a glass bottle from a Christopher Columbus protester, which started the gag of Paulie being regularly beaten, berated and disrespected. Throughout his stay, he is normally seen hanging out with Christopher Moltisanti and the rest of his crew, along with also being seen hanging out at the Esplanade construction site alongside Benny, Patsy Parisi, Vito Spatafore, Eugene Pontecorvo and Peter LaRosa.

Season 5[]

In the episode "In Camelot", Little Paulie helps Christopher in collecting a loan from J.T. Dolan, to which after they realize he doesn't have any money on him, the two brutally beat him in his own home. In the episode "Unidentified Black Males", Little Paulie and the rest of the construction site crew are seen slacking off making conversation when they eventually start talking about each other's girlfriends. When Gene makes a joke about Paulie's girl, Paul responds in a falsetto voice, making a joke about Gene being a homosexual. Eugene, taking the joke personally and feeling disrespected, gets up from his chair and proceeds to slam a beer bottle into Paulie's face before kicking his head in, severely injuring him. Vito blames the incident on two unknown black men and Paulie soon recovers.

Season 6[]

Little Paulie is seen helping out his uncle in the episode "The Ride", where they organize the Feast of Saint Elzear, however Paulie doesn't take all of his responsibilities into consideration, which is seen when one of the rides malfunctions, causing a huge, but not fatal, disaster. While Paulie deals with the hit on his morality and his respect, Little Paulie deals with the police. In the episode "Walk Like a Man", after Christopher has a feud with Paulie, Chris takes out his anger on Little Paulie by throwing him outside of a second story window, severely injuring him with him wearing a neck brace for the rest of the series due to him suffering from 6 broken vertebrae. Despite him being frequently disrespected and treated like a joke for a majority of the series, Paulie finally puts his part in when he assists Tony in finding Phil Leotardo during the DiMeo and Lupertazzi War by dressing up as a police officer and tracking down his locations.
