The Living Hands are minor antagonists in the 2021 indie horror video game Little Nightmares II. Indirect creations of the Doctor, Living Hands are re-animated, severed hands of the many Patients found in the Hospital. They scuttle around like spiders and are hostile to anything close to their size, such as children.

Characteristics[]

The Living Hands appear to behave like giant spiders. They crawl around very fast on all five of their fingers. These fingers also allow them to crawl up platforms similar to Mono and Six. When they are about to pounce, they stand on their pinkie and thumb and curl their three other fingers in the air. During this, they will hiss in a manner similar to a tarantula. When hit for the first time, they will scurry away quickly into a dark area. They die in a similar way to spiders as well, turning onto their and hand having having their fingers (equivalent to spider legs) curl inward.

Appearance[]

The Living Hands appear to be disembodied humanoid hands with Caucasian skin. A small part of the arm is still attached to the back, and at the end meat can be seen.

History[]

While Mono makes his way into a series of rooms on a mission to find the first battery to power the elevator, he encounters the first Living Hand. It pretended to be apart of a patient who was strapped to a table. He crawled down from the table and into the shadows. As Mono progressed to the next part of the room, the Hand came out of the darkness and began it's attempts at striking the boy. At this time, Mono was defenseless, and so he could only dodge it's attacks. The Hand, unlike many past minor enemies, was able to climb after Mono and follow him into vents. Eventually, Mono reached a back-room where there on a work-table sat the first battery, and on the floor lay a weapon that Mono could use to squash the hand. After two hits, it curled up and died on it's back.

The hands next appear in a hallway where there were wooden planks blocking their only means of getting to the next room. Just before they could remove them, one of the steel drawers began to make loud noises. Six went to block the cabinet door, but one of the hands had escaped just in time. Conveniently, there was a weapon there for Mono to attack the hand with. After a short while, the other hand broke free and Six went to try and pry the planks off. Eventually, Mono was able to slay them both.

Trivia[]

  • The Living Hands' theme is called "One Step, Two Step".
  • Like other enemies, the Living Hands will not attack Six, not even when she is out in the open and undefended.
  • Unlike their Patient counterparts, they appear to have real skin and aren't limited by light.
  • The Player will earn an achievement called "...And stay dead!" if the player whacks a defeated hand several times.
