Dr. Curtis "Curt" Connors, also known as the Lizard, is a minor character in the 2020 superhero video game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a major character of its 2023 follow-up Marvel's Spider-Man 2. He is a scientist at Oscorp, who became known as the reptilian villain known as the Lizard in his search to restore his lost arm before Spider-Man found a way to cure him.
Despite initially being cured, Connors' transformation resurfaced when he was kidnapped by Kraven as part of his hunting quest, as Kraven had managed to recreate the Lizard serum and forcefully administer it into Connors, transforming him into the Lizard once more.
In Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, he is voiced by an unidentified voice actor. In Marvel's Spider-Man 2, he is voiced by Mark Whitten.
Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about Dr. Curtis Connors' past, but he became a geneticist and started out his career as a medic in the St. Martin Hospital of New York City. Working there, Connors once helped Peter Parker when he injured his shoulder. He later married a woman named Martha, whom gave birth to their son Billy. At some point, he was hired by Norman Osborn into being his assistant and finding a cure for his son, Harry. When a meteorite landed outside New York, Connors and Norman went with a search team, finding a lifeform that attached itself to Curt's arm. He ordered Oscorp security to shoot it off, losing his arm in the process but capturing the alien for study.
Eventually, by the time Peter had started donning the mantle of Spider-Man, Connors invented a serum to regenerate his lost right arm. Unfortunately, it backfired and turned him into a humanoid feral reptile known as the Lizard. Facing him as one of his early enemies, Spider-Man fought against the Lizard until he invented an antidote with Connors' blood, which apparently cured him. However, the event led to Martha divorcing from Curt and taking their son Billy with her.
Spider-Man would go to keep the blood vial he used as a memento of his career's beginnings while Connors returned to keep working on the science field. He returned as Norman's assistant, and in July of 2018, had Harry placed in stasis with the symbiote bonded to him on his father's orders.
Marvel's Spider-Man[]
Although the Lizard does not physically appear, Curt Connors' blood vial can be seen in Peter Parker's backpack collectibles as a memento. In addition, Dr. Isaac Delaney is wearing a Lizard costume at the Halloween party that Mister Negative and his Inner Demons attack.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales[]
In the mid-credits scene, Connors makes an appearance in Norman Osborn's private laboratory, having been working with him for a cure to his sick son Harry, who is being kept alive in a container. Despite his warning to not employ the symbiote to cure Harry's disease in spite of their studies, Connors reluctantly releases Harry from the container under Norman's orders, setting into motion the events of the second game.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2[]
Dr. Curt Connors first appears when Harry gives a tour of the Emily-May Foundation to Peter. During this, Connors went to check on Harry, and also met Peter. Peter exclaims that he and Connors had met each other before in Otto Octavius' lab, which Connors responds with a simple yes. After he was done checking on Harry's health and went back to work, Peter tells Harry that his doctor is the Lizard, in which the latter responds with "Dad believes in second chances."
A few hours later, Norman tells Peter and Harry that Connors is missing. Harry simply thought that he had taken a day off, but Peter knows that Connors isn't the kind to take days off. He quickly realized that the hunters had captured him, as the Lizard was potentially a victim of Kraven's hunt. Mary-Jane Watson called Peter after he had informed her about Connors' disappearance, and after being accidentally kidnapped by the hunters, later found him at a run-down zoo far away from the city. MJ cleared the hunters from the zoo and tried to save Connors, in which Kraven arrived to inject him with a replica of the Lizard serum, which begun his transformation. Connors and MJ tried to create a cure, but Kraven stole it and now wears it as a necklace. and watched Connors' slowly transform into the Lizard. Connors apologizes to MJ as he slowly begins to transform into the Lizard, and after Spider-Man and Agent Venom attempt to fight Kraven, he escaped the zoo and ran away to his home to try and create another cure.
Peter arrived at Connors' house in an attempt to find him. He found a secret lab hidden in his house, which showed security cameras that recorded footage of Connors trying to prevent his transformation. He tried to cure himself, but Kraven had apparently made the serum resist the effects of the cure, at least while Connors was still transforming. Peter, later joined by Miles, tries to find Connors and grab a blood sample from him to make another cure. But the hunters try to capture the Lizard, which results in the Lizard running away from both the Spider-Men and Kraven's hunters. Peter and Miles are able to stop the hunters from capturing the Lizard, with Connors escaping underwater.
After creating a new serum, Peter is able to track down Connors with a hidden Oscorp lab in the sewers. Peter finds the Lizard, but he has gone fully feral at this point, which results in a battle between the two. After Peter begins to win the fight, the Lizard escapes from the sewers and runs across the entire city. The hunters once again show up and try to take down the Lizard, but Peter is able to ward them off while pursuing the Lizard. Eventually, Peter gets the upper hand, and the two fall off of a tall building, crashing into the floor. This resulted in another battle, where Peter was able to successfully inject Connors with the improved cure.
Connors later wakes up at the secret Oscorp lab Peter discovered beforehand. Connors is shocked and frightened, as he saw Spider-Man wearing the Symbiote as a suit. He tells Spider-Man about the origins of the Symbiote, and explains its status as an alien and the fact that it bonds with its hosts. Connors tells Spider-Man that it chose him after he was fatally stabbed by Kraven during the zoo raid. Peter becomes concerningly evil after learning this information, which had scared Connors so much to the point where he thought Spider-Man would try and kill him. Luckily, Peter ran away before doing any harm to Connors.
After Peter got the Symbiote suit off of him, he called Connors to inform him about the situation. Connors asks Spider-Man how he is feeling, as the effects of the Symbiote could potentially stay on its hosts. Peter ensures Connors that he feels fine, but regrets his actions when he had the suit on him. Peter later goes to Oscorp to give Connors the symbiote. Harry tried to get it back, but Peter saw it as too much of a liability. The symbiote escaped its containment and infected Harry, which turned him into Venom. Venom asks Connors where the meteorite is, and the scientist reluctantly shows Venom the location. Peter asks Connors what Venom is going to do, and Connors states that the host and Symbiote are perfectly fused, and saving Harry is not a valid option. He says the only way to stop Venom is by killing the host, much to the distraught of Peter. Norman Osborn later arrives and begs the two to save Harry.
Appearance[]
Dr. Curt Connors has a medium build, with normal height and brown hair. Like his comic counterpart, he lacks his right arm. He is mostly seen wearing his work outfit, which is a white lab coat. After he was cured, he wore purple pants and a white t-shirt.
As the Lizard, Connors' appearance drastically changes him into a semi-humanoid reptilian creature with a more muscular build and regrown right arm. His skin becomes green and scaly, with traces of his human features mostly lost and attains more of an iguana-like visage complete with sharp teeth and forked tongue.
As a result of the enhanced Lizard serum created by Kraven, Connors' transformation takes a more monstrous form; his skin attaining dark green stripes and light green accents in addition of armored, spikes protruded across his body. Most notably, he has grown much larger in comparison to his previous form.
Personality[]
Curt Connors is a kind but serious man that wants to use his knowledge of science to good use. He loves his wife and his son, even after they had left him due to his initial incident as the Lizard. He cares greatly for their safety that he respects his wife's decision to not get to involved with him any further. Ever since losing his arm from the Symbiote, Connors has become very cautious when being around it, knowing full well of the hostility and danger it poses to others. It's also for this reason that he is against the idea of using it to cure Harry's illness, despite it being the only current means of keeping him alive.
The Lizard is an untamed, savage beast that lashes out towards his surroundings. His behavior is that of a predator who mainly attacks in self defense and primarily wants to be left alone. Nonetheless, the Lizard's savage nature makes him a dangerous threat to nearby civilians and for this reason, he avoids experimenting with Lizard DNA any further.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Genius-Level Intellect: Dr. Curt Connors is highly intelligent, as he is shown to be an expert in science, chemistry, physics and biology.
- Biology: Connors is a gifted scientist in the fields of herpetology (study of reptiles) and medical science as he has been treating Harry Osborn's condition for sometime as well as the physiology of the symbiote.
- Lizard Physiology: Due to the serum mutation, the Lizard possesses several superhuman physical attributes that makes it a complete match for the Spider-Men.
- Strength: The Lizard possesses large amounts of immense physical strength as he is able to lift immensely heavy materials, and destroy parts of buildings with relative ease.
- Durability: The Lizard shrugged off repeated kicks and punches from the Spider-Men and heavy objects being thrown at him without injury.
- Speed: The Lizard can run at incredible speed, being nearly able to outrace Peter in a dead sprint.
- Agility: The Lizard can jump and run about with ease.
- Senses: The Lizard's senses have also been heightened, allowing him to hear, see, smell, taste, and touch better than normal
- Accelerated Healing Factor: Like other lizards, the Lizard has an impressive regenerative healing factor; quickly healing battle damage and regrowing its severed arm.
- Sonic Roar: The Lizard can emit a devastating roar which is loud enough to destabilize the Symbiote instantly.
- Amphibiousness: The Lizard is an excellent swimmer, allowing him to traverse the rivers of New York with little to no issue at all.
- Surface Sticking: The Lizard is able to climb onto solid surfaces with no issue despite his massive size.
- Spider Sense Foiling: The Lizard can even take Spider-Man by surprise. the latter's spider-sense only detecting the Lizard just as the creature attacks. How this is able to happen is unknown.
Weaknesses[]
- Feral: The Lizard is a completely feral and animalistic creature incapable of higher thought and only communicates in roars and snarls.

- Claws: Although not possessing any weapons of any kind, the Lizard has razor sharp claws to slash through his enemies.
- Tail: The Lizard has a long powerful tail to smack down those around it.
- Prehensile: The Lizard can use his tail to hang and swing from lampposts at will.

Trivia[]
- During the production of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Lizard was originally going to be symbiotized by Venom, along with Sandman and Miles Morales.
- In contrast to most takes of the Lizard, whose arm had to be amputated following an explosion, this incarnation of Curt Connors had his arm shot off when the Venom symbiote attacked him shortly after crash-landing on Earth.
