He is Peter Parker's physics professor at Columbia University, and wants to grow his arm back, however, this would lead to him turning into the Lizard, becoming an enemy to Spider-Man and wants to turn all of humanity into his race of lizards.
He first appears outside of Columbia University when class is over; Peter Parker meets him, and Connors then scolds him for missing class half the time. When he does show up, he's asleep in his seat. Then, he asks him if he started his paper on Dr. Octavius yet, then tells him that he is a good friend of his so he better knows what he is talking about. Peter tells him that he has been thinking about it. Connors then tells him that thinking isn't his problem but that paper isn't gonna write itself, and if he doesn't get his act together, he is in serious danger of failing this class. Peter then promises him to pull things together, Connors says he hopes so and he will see him in class, later on, Peter is late to see Connors again, and this time is sidetracked by Mysterio's robots. Meanwhile, Connors in his lab, waiting for Peter, Doctor Octopus pays him a visit, telling Connors to help him. Connors asks Otto if he is alright and that he heard on the news that Otto killed the doctors. Connors then says he will call the police; Otto then reveals his tentacles, demanding him not to call the police. Connors then says he needs to get him help, and he is obviously not well. Otto is mad that Connors wants to turn him into the police, so he knocks out Connors. When Peter gets to the lab, he sees Connors knocked out, Connors wakes up briefly, then says "Otto, no!", but then passes out again; Peter doesn't know what he means by that. Peter then takes Connors to a hospital, and Connors is not seen again for the rest of the story.
Spider-Man 3[]
Doctor Connors is first seen having his camera on record and plans to test his regeneration serum on himself since there is no better guinea pig than himself. Connors knows there are risks, but he can't allow a twist of fate to undo the natural order when science can correct it; if the unthinkable happens, he tells the viewers to please tell his wife and son to get a letter. Connors then injects himself with it, he says it stings a bit more than he expected, he then unexpectedly turns into the Lizard instead of just growing his arm back.
He then goes out, turning other people into lizards, and he then goes back into his lab. Peter Parker comes to his lab, asking if Connors is okay, the Lizard then tells Peter to stay back then escapes into the sewers. Peter sees that Connors is now a lizard, then gives chase to catch him and find out what is going on. He goes down into the sewers to chase him; he finds more lizard men in the sewers; he does find him later, then the Lizard runs, and Spider-Man finds him again. Lizard then gets away with a giant drill behind Spider-Man, Spider-Man does outswing it though, they then get to a room with conveyor belts. Lizard then jumps at Spider-Man to crush him into the grinder but fails 3 times; Lizard then becomes stunned, and Spider-Man then flings him into another room; Lizard is unconscious; Spider-Man sees other lizards crawl up the wall, trying to escape into the city.
Lizard then wakes up, then Spider-Man and Lizard fight. Spider-Man is hesitant to fight his teacher but has no choice, and later Lizard crawls up to open the lid to free the other lizards into the city, Spider-Man then stops this by pulling the lid, having the Lizard and the other lizards pour back down, Lizard then falls through the floor, then escapes. Later on, after Spider-Man gets the Black Suit, Kraven the Hunter starts to hunt the Lizard. Kraven kills the other lizards in the sewers, then finds The Lizard himself, then defeats him. Kraven then attempts to kill him, Spider-Man saves him, Lizard then smacks Kraven with his tail, then escapes. Calypso tries to stop him but then fails; Calypso then chases the Lizard while Spider-Man is fighting Kraven. Calypso corners the Lizard. Lizard then tries to fight Calypso, but Calypso, using her telekinesis, has him and then turns him into Mega Lizard with a shield. Spider-Man then finds Mega Lizard, then spins his tail at the 4 generators to break the shield, after the shield is gone, Spider-Man starts fighting him, later breaking his mouth, then has him down, then slams him against the wall, Mega Lizard is electrocuted, then turns back into Connors again. Spider-Man then takes Connors to a Hospital.
Later on, Connors still gets visions of the Lizard. Spider-Man, now free of the symbiote, tells Connors that he needs his help and that some of his lizards are still on the loose; Connors is remorseful, asking what he has done; Connors agrees to help Spider-Man by getting a sample of the regeneration serum from his lab in the sea were, he could engineer an antidote, Spider-Man agrees. Connors then tells Spider-Man to meet him at the University lab when he gets it, then vowels he will make things right, after Spider-Man gets it, he gives it to Connors the University lab, Connors tells Spider-Man to come back later, saying it could take a while. Spider-Man tells him that to not take too long since there are more lizards out there than they thought, later, Spider-Man visits Connors against, Connors tells him that he has produced enough of the antidote to cure hundreds of lizards. He then tells Spider-Man the location of them but then warns him the third one is going to be harder since it is at the lizard hive and that they instinctively return there to rest. Spider-Man then goes to the sewers, then succeeds in curing all of the lizards, Spider-Man heads back to Connors' lab, saying let's not do this again, Connors apologizes to Spider-Man for everything he has done, Spider-Man then tells him it is okay, and that he is a good man, then tells him he will see him around and tells him to be well, then leaves Connors.
Trivia[]
Doctor Connors does appear as The Lizard in the Game Boy Advance and N-Gage versions of Spider-Man 2 as a minor antagonist in both. In the Game Boy Advance version, Lizard stole some chemicals from a train to turn everyone into reptiles similar to him. He was defeated by Spider-Man. In the N-Gage version, Lizard and his thugs moved hazardous material through the sewer system. Spider-Man went to check it out and found Lizard. The villain wanted to poison the city, but was forced to battle Spider-Man. Lizard lost in a fair fight and was left by Spider-Man to be picked up by the police.
He was originally going to turn into The Lizard in the main console versions of Spider-Man 2 with a storyline between him, Kraven, and Calypso, but was scrapped, with the storyline happening in the third game instead, however, his lizard minions appear as secret enemies in the battle arena for Spider-Man 2, and Calypso does appear as a secret boss.
The Lizard is the only villain in the Raimi games to be semi canonical to the movies as Doctor Connors did appear in the movies but never became The Lizard, however, he was planned to become The Lizard in the fourth movie, there is even a lizard in the background of Doctor Connors' lab in Spider-Man 3, a foreshadowing of him turning into The Lizard.
