~ Lloyd's most famous quote.
“
Lloyd: It's not a matter that concerns you, Mr. Torrance. At least not at this point. Jack Torrance: Anything you say, Lloyd. Anything you say.
„
~ Lloyd to Jack Torrance.
Lloyd is the secondary antagonist in Stephen King's 1977 psychological horror novel The Shining. He is a ghost bartender working at the Overlook Hotel, who also is a part of the conspiracy to have Jack Torrance murder his entire family.
In the 1980 movie, he was portrayed by the late Joe Turkel, who also played Tiny in The Killing. While taking the form of Jack Torrance in Doctor Sleep, he was portrayed by Henry Thomas, who also played Jack in the same film, a young Norman Bates in Psycho IV: The Beginning, Sean Roberts in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Tom Mahout in Gerald's Game.
Nothing is known about Lloyd's past, aside from him working at the Overlook Hotel as a bartender until his demise, presumably during the 1920's. Through Lloyd's actions, it can be implied that he, similarly to Charles\Delbert Grady, murdered someone while he was alive.
The Shining (novel)[]
In the novel, Lloyd is hallucinated by Jack in the Colorado Lounge. In order to further Jack's insanity, Lloyd serves Jack 20 Martinis at the same time, in an attempt to manipulate Jack into murdering his entire family.
